I'd say at least lock in a part time job so worst case secnario you have at least a little something to fall back on. If you're 'self employed' it will also be a very good idea to get a part time job to keep your classical job experience going without any gaps in it.

i guess we have been in the same shit toxic relationship , and depression , i live in germany and i got kicked from uni because of the shit i have been through and because i was weak , but to be honest i loved what i did in uni , best advice in my opinion at least that is what i am doing untill i start uni again next semeser , i am have part time job 8h 3days a week, doing some osrs work on sythe, preparing math, java programming and other courses for next semester, pick your self up back together i wouldn't jump right away in another relationship i am just focusing on self development and trying to organize my life, time table, and setting daily goals, weakly goals, monthly goals, i take a piece of paper and write down everything i need to do the next day and for the week, and you say you are good graphic designer if i were you i would keep improving my skills, and look for a part time job, also best advice start hitting the gym to get out of depression it really helps a lot , best of luck !!

My opinion would be if you enjoy doing graphics then focus on improving that and see where it takes you. It’s always nice if you actually enjoy what you do.

    Cheers man

If you're enjoying graphics, and it's your passion, and you're profiting from it, take all of that into consideration and continue to pursue a graphics career.

On the other hand, I highly suggest you get a part-time job, which is flexible enough that you can do your graphics, and make the same amount + have the part time job on the side.

You're going to want to develop a strict budget as well for the first while, see how well your graphics goes for a few more months, use your part-time job to try and pay most of your bills, develop meal plans to cook and eat at home, living on your own can be very hard or very easy, it'll all ultimately be up to you.

    - Do Graphics
    - Part Time Job
    - Cook / Eat / Spend time at home occupied
    - Save money

    that's your best bet.

Always secure the BAG before moving. You can always do what you love "gfx designing" as well as get a part time job somewhere. As long as you find some sort of balance, in my opinion life is all about balance. Balancing time, relationships, money and goals and always remember in the end "your in the exact spot in life that God wants you to be in".

    Cheers,

It isn't an option for me to not move out unfortunately, thanks for the advice though!

To everyone else that has responded, thanks for all the advice. I really do appreciate it. Think I might get a part time job but haven't decided yet. Feel like maybe I could invest my time in growing my business instead of getting a job since I'm able to support myself from the money I'm currently making and there's still more to be made.

If you can grind more with GFX, do that to make extra money on top of what you're making now, if not get a part time job and do the same amount of GFX you do now, that way you have extra way of making money.

I would say you should grind out your gfx business man, the more time you spend the more you will make, try to oursource onto different platforms, etc.

If I were you I'd attempt to get my foot in the door at a place that's relevant to what I want to do - graphic design, etc. in your case.

Working freelance is fine but often you'll find it very difficult to make a consistent living without being well established and/or having frequent returning customers (like people subcontracting jobs to you that are part of bigger projects). If you're living out on your own, uncertainty like this may not be ideal for you.

Ultimately, it is what you make it. I'm sure you'll do what you need to in order to make things work - it's just a hope that the journey does not involve rough times.

seemingly you can do a lot with your graphics hustle. keep doing that try to attract more people. make graphics to market yourself at the same time.

I'd agree with what has been the general consensus man, maybe pick up a part time job, (maybe even one that involves graphic design?) And really just dig in with your art. Clearly you're talented, and I think with a bit more exposure you could in time make it your only source of income. I would however be a little more cautious until you've lived there for a few months and start to understand what your monthly spending will be, and then maybe re evaluate all of this then? Either way you'll be fine, just keep the nose to the grindstone man!

Thank for all the kind words/advice. I moved out about a month ago and it's going well. I was able to pay the bills and save some money just from my freelance orders. Going to start working on my own website and just building my own business on the days that I don't have orders.

About the girl I was seeing when I made this thread, we're seeing eachother atleast 3 times/week now :D

Not sure if you still require answers, but honestly budget and pace yourself well.

What you need to remember is, looking after yourself is key. As long as you're keeping a roof over your head and you can eat a warm meal a day it doesn't matter where you are, if you could afford a barn with some hay and a blanket but could also eat, i'm sure you would make that equally work to your advantage.

If you have money left at the end of the graphics after all this, then decide if you feel it's worth putting yourself out there to look for work, if you do not feel it is then don't worry too much until you have to.

This is very true. Do the graphics on the site. Make a website where you show your work. Put it on your CV.
