How closely does Jagex pay attention to IP Addresses?

First off, I'd like to apologize if this is the wrong section or a repost; but it seems like the suitable place.
When I tried to search it timed out multiple times.

Anyways, how closely does Jagex monitor IP Addresses involving RWT methods?

Example: Someone bought skilling or gold from another player,
and the IP Address is quite far away from each other,
but the log-in times from the two IP Addresses have been recent.
Do they keep records or raise a red flag of these incidents?

TL;DR Version: What are the chances of getting caught buying skilling/gold?

 

Super slim chance even though some have been nailed for it.

They will I.P. ban you if you belong to a RWT company.

 

Thanks for the quick reply, I've started up RS again a month ago after 1.5 year break, so I'm being very cautious.

 

In this scenario, i do not think that they pay close attention.
They do how ever in a banning situation, because many times when i BOT, i change my IP address after about 5Minutes of LEGIT playing. This way, if i get banned.. I can ask them to check the IP Address and most of the time, they Accept my appeal!.

Because there are sooo many other players that do the same thing.

they will most only watch your ip/Accounts
if u get a ban (mainly for 1 day) /Multiple bans in a month.... Smok3y

 

You have a very very very small chance of getting in trouble for something like that. Jagex is mainly after repeat offenders, i.e. RWT companies.

 

Me and my m8 share an acc that we both log into every now and then.. like 3 times a month or so? Today it got locked. Watch out bro.

 

Pfft, I've been sharing an account for 5 YEARS now, and i still got it! Also traded a few accounts and none banned..
Maybe its because we live like 150 metres away from eachother..

 

they do pay atention on a account if u log in from different ip's 10 min after eachother u can get banned and else they probably wont see it.

 

I know lots of people that have bought gold and/or shared RS accounts. I don't think Jagex pay too much attention as I've never heard of anyone getting banned for it, so you should be fine.

 

If you live close to the person, then it shouldnt be a problem. If your ip goes from the US to Aus in 10 minutes, thats when you get in trouble. But theres only a slim chance of being caught if your not a repeat offender

 

I've shared account's with my friends for years and nothing has happened

 

They do notice however if someone hacks your account, makes cash, you recov. They think it's RWT.

jagex pays very little attention to this, i share an account with a friend in New Zealand, and have done for about 3 months now, we both log in about 3 times a day... still jagex hasn't noticed, and if they have, they haven't done anything about it... they have better stuff to do than monitor this sort of stuff, but yeh, once every blue moon u might get caught

They also IP ban Phishers I hear. So don't Phish!
