    Failed recovery test accounts

Well I was sold an account that I can't even recover, and the person who sold it to me can't either. But his cousin can. I was wondering if it's actually legit to sell accounts to people even if they fail recovery tests.

So now I'm stuck with an account that, if I ever get back, I probably won't be able to recover in time to save it because I've got to wait for the seller's cousin to come online and do it for me.

    Opinions please

I believe that accounts should only be sold with a succesful recovery test. If the recovery test fails, accounts shouldnt be sold.

Is there anything I can do about it? Could I ask the seller for a refund or something? Surely this is against the rules.

I would ask for a refund.

What will probably end up happening is you will put any
type of wealth on it and the other person will recover it.

Ask for a refund. It's not the dudes account, so if he cant do a recovery on it... You are very likely to get scammed.

If he refuses to refund your money, I would recommend reporting him, at least to get a TWC.

It's a rank that you get for being sketchy during trades.
    It means "Trade With Caution".

Oh right. So do you think I should contact the seller and ask for a refund?

    It is your choice.
But if you cannot recover the account, it is a rather useless account.
He could recover it at any time.

He says he can't recover it either. A week ago the password got changed by a quester and it took me 8 hours to get it back because neither me or the seller could retrieve it. I had to wait for his cousin, the original owner, to come online and recover it for me. So what I'm saying is, if it ever happens again I'll probably end up losing all my wealth because I can't recover it straight away.

    That's what i mean though.
No matter how much wealth you add, or stats you add to the account.
The Cousin will be able to take it back.

In my opinion, it wouldn't even be worth working on that account.
You could also lose it to a quester again or something.

Well then, best you can do is be careful with the account.
If he ends up recovering it, post in the "Report a scammer" section with proof.

I don't understand this. Did you trade first and find out afterwards that you can't recover? If so, you should be able to report as he didn't provide full details. If you agreed to it, and are later like, why did I do that, then it is kind of your own fault.

I personally would never buy an account because I would constantly worry and wouldn't feel I could put anything on it.

No. I only found out I wasn't able to recover the account myself a few days after the trade had occurred.

    Scott Smith says
all of your info is legit.
its not my fault your ip hasnt sunk
    Sam Fowkes says
well how come i've just sold an account to someone? his ip sunk in straight away
    Scott Smith says
Why would i know.. all of the info i gave you is 100% correct
    Sam Fowkes says
you sold me an account i can't do anything with
    Scott Smith says
    you can play on it?
look i sold you an account
    you bought it
what intitles you to a refund?
    Sam Fowkes says
the fact neither you or me can actually get it recovered if necessary. i shouldn't have to rely on your cousin to recover it for me
i should be able to do it myself because I bought the account
    Scott Smith says
    not nessiarily
    you have all the info.
you had the account for 3 days
your ip doesnt sink in 3 days and its not my fualt you got hacked.
    Sam Fowkes says
    i never said it was
and apparently ips do sink in in less than 3 days
i just sold someone an account, they managed to recover it
    several times
and they've never accessed the account before
    Scott Smith says
just because you cant sell your account because nobody is offering doesnt mean your entitled to a refund.
you bought the account i sold it to you
i never said you can have a refund because you cant sell the account
    Sam Fowkes says
no it's the fact that even if somebody did
i wouldn't be able to anyway
no one wants an account that doesn't pass the recovery tests

if you think your going to get refunded your mistaken
its not my fault you didnt ask for a recovery test
    reselling accounts is legal
    i did nothing wrong
its your own misdoing not mine
your gonna report me for your mistake? go right ahead
    Sam Fowkes says
    not really
you knew well enough that was my first trade. you knew i'd probably want a recovery test
    because that's what usually happens

    Is this enough proof?

Came to realize I was the one actually in the wrong. My apologies to Skills Mate. Someone lock the thread, please.
