[Food] Schlotzsky's - Tex-Mex Brisket Sandwich Review (+Cinnabon)

I had ANOTHER free sandwich for this place, so I decided to give it another go. The first time I had this place, it was nothing mind-blowing. Another Texas company, but there are locations worldwide.

Price Paid: FREE for a small, normal price is steep at $6.99 for a small, $7.99 for a medium.





Running through the ingredients:

Hickory-smoked brisket - initial reaction was there wasn't enough meat and it was chewy. Still had a nice flavor, but the texture left something to be desired. Not really a brisket taste.

Queso fresco - may as well not be there

Cheddar - So gooey and all over the place. Might be too much for people who don't like cheese that much, but the cheese flavor was strong on this sandwich. It has 3 sources of cheese, after all.

Salsa verde - Don't think I even got any of this.

Roasted red peppers - Nothing special. Just cheap peppers.

Pickled jalapeños - Don't think I had any.

Lettuce - it had some.

Chipotle mayo - Probably the only chipotle product I like. This creamy stuff really carried the sandwich, I believe. Well, it was probably the...

Signature sauce - Whatever is in this, mixed with the chipotle sauce... was amazing. I'm not sure if I liked this sandwich so much because it was basically a delivery service for these sauces or what.

Jalapeño cheese bun - You can see the cheese and jalapeno inside of the bun. This bun tasted fresh, amazing, and moist. The bun, along with the sauces, were the clear winners in this product. One of the best buns I've ever had, if not THE best.

The individual ingredients worked together to create something amazing. So much so, that I plan on actually paying for it at least once.

High 5/5 Seal of Approval, this thing was great. I'll be sure to go to a better location next time... one that puts all the ingredients in, and one that doesn't close 45 minutes early.

I'd get this sandwich again, obviously.

High 2/5. You can't really mess with Cinnabon, but this was clearly stale and not that great overall. It is a microwaved product that they grab from the display. I was expecting something... different. This thing had to have been sitting for days.

It is bigger than it looks.. it is the angle... and it was cold.

I looked at the pics.. looked WAY worse in the pics.
