Party Hat sets... worth it the $$$?

so i've got a fair bit of money to spend, i've got a disposeable income. so basically, i'm looking to dispose of it on a game i really love

Dont reply with "why dont you buy this.. or this.." i have most things you would suggest. I've got a nice car, im secure in my job, accommodation...

anyway i was wondering what you guys think about buying pixels for real life dollars? im considering buying a party hat *set* when free trade comes out, but im not sure if its actually worth it.

is it better to buy the set and hold on to it or just buy the equivalent XBMillion cash?

just want your thoughts on this mindset in general, and if theres ways i can go about it easily.

 

At current ge prices. The phats exceed the max cash.

And, I would wait for prices to get stable.
As soon as free trade is out, prices will be all over the place.

And, I've never spent $ on this game. Well.. I have, but I have always turned it around and made profit.

 

Just buy the all-famed cracker if you have the market price.
If not it'll cost around 2 grand for a cracker.
So, im pretty sure it really inst exactly worth it :x

 

if it is something you really long for, then go for it. but as christmascracker said, you should probably wait until prices stabilize

I'd spend the money on it, since I made the money online. I am thinking about doing the same thing, I am just fearing the RWT bans at the moment. We will see what happens.

 

I wouldn't do it, at least for a few months to see what is going in in Runescape. Honestly, I'm starting to find credibility in the people who are predicting that Jagex is slowly giving up. Head to ANY world, Varrock East. There are more botters at the essence mine than there ever were in 2006.

 

Don't do it, buy some mills get nice armour do some God wars, make it back and sell it for profit

 

This. Spending a few dollars here and there is okay, but if you're going into the high hundreds or over a thousand, I'd *really* want to wait until this whole thing settles. I'd be mega pissed if the game died a year after I poured that much money into it, even if it was disposable income.

Jagex seem to be giving up tackling, real life trade, bots, scams, e.t.c, might even go onto sell runescape to Blizzard, or even just shut it down :S...should wait a couple of months atleast.

 

I don't think Jagex will just abandon Runescape... it's too great of a source of money for them.

Why throw away their best and more-or-less only source of income? >_>

 

that's just rumours lol. they won't sell/close runescape for the next few years.

 

ok, so it seems that the general feel is to not bother.. i hear you.

what if i bought one or two partyhats? all i really want it the gold, and it seems like the best way to get it without looking dodgy. a convenient pk? a duel gone bad? seems fine..

 

start with like a 50m stake, then double the stakes every round

also lose a few stakes to make it look real

 

Personally I'd never spend such a huge amount on this game. It gets to a point where you're taking it too seriously when you'd spend like $2000-$3000 on an online game. Not judging or anything, just stating my view on the situation.

 

mills are low prices now, if you'd stock up on mills and sell them in a few months it can make loads of profit

 

I always wanted to buy a phat but never got the chance to since I don't have the money ingame

buy mills not phats, cuz the dumb phats have street value and their pointless

if u want buy 1 phat and the rest gp

 

You need to wait for prices. No one knows exactly what's going to happen to prices, but rares normally always have a higher value. Only Partyhats really stable right now are Blue and White Partyhats. Problem is, hoarders basically control the prices.

Normal items will most-likely be losing value though due to them not disappearing anymore in the wildy.
