    Homosexuals Hurting their Case

As you know prop 8 was voted as a yes this means that same sex marriage is not recognized by the State of California.
Obviously they are appealing the decision which is out handle it in court.

Last few days they have been protesting in LA during prime time traffic hours. This is backing up traffic and making many people late to get home , get to work or take their kids to soccer Practice and so on.

This type of protesting has only made people mad and turn against them. I know if it was affecting me and I was stuck in traffic I would be the same way.All I know is this would be aggravating and if they had another vote it might be worse for them

How would you go about protesting your cause and swaying people towards your view?

Demonstrators marched through Hollywood, blocking traffic and forcing police to intervene after the controversial 'Proposition 8' was approved in a referendum.

The proposition asked for the Californian constitution to be changed to define marriage as being between one man and one woman.

The referendum came just months after the practice was legalised in the state and more than 18,000 same-sex couples tied the knot.

The protests mainly passed off peacefully, although a group of about 500 protesters gathered outside the local bureau of media giant CNN, where they banged on the doors and walls.

One protester was seen on TV cameras jumping on top of a police car before he was wrestled to the ground and handcuffed by police.

The ban, approved by 52.1% of voters, was hailed by conservative groups as the people's way of overturning the state Supreme Court's ruling in May that legalised *** marriage.

    So.

Let's protest by getting 1 million signatures, and sending it to the courts.

Does that get into anybodies way?
    No.

Rioting, blocking traffic, and the etc, is not the answer.

"Let's get people pissed off at us! Maybe it'll help our case!"

^ That is exactly what is happening. ^

Whyis rioting not the answer? Because you don't think it should be? Drop your personal fear of homosexuals, crawl out of your box and debate!

They took the right to marry, are you suggesting they also undermine the right to protest? What other constitutional rights do you suggest we abolish (while we're at it)?

There is a difference between a protest and a riot. He is not suggesting that they take away their right to protest, he is just saying that it is not helping their case, its hurting it.

I Don't think rioting is peaceful. But in my opinion they have every right to be angry, although it still does not make it the right choice. My view is Prop 8 impedes on their right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The people of California voted to ban gay marriage, which I support because I think a marriage should be between a man and woman. I don't really like people protesting, it's sort of annoying, but if people insist on it, I think they should protest in a civil way, not like a bunch of animals.

I think protests should be more violent. Seriously.

Look at france! They have riots and people burn cars. They would be exciting.

I think that the homosexual population of California has a right to be outraged, and I hope they DO get a little crazy about it.

how does someone sound like a dictator for saying "i dont realy like protesting"?.

Considering they need people's votes to overturn the decision, they need to appeal to the general public, so protesting and getting in everyone's way does not necessarily help them out. Maybe hold a public demonstration in an open area, make banners and place them in crowded areas, film commercials and have them air on primetime to get attention, etc.

Protesting and causing a shitload of traffic certainly doesn't help their case, it's like being a teacher and having students who whine and yell everyday in class and don't do any work, then at the end of the year they all expect to get A's; it just doesn't make sense.
