    Jagex Phishing E-mails

Okay, so I became a little interested in this email that I received from "Jagex". It says that my account was perm banned for RWT and I have been recently. I check it out and believe it to be a 100% phishing email after logging into my account and seeing that it was not banned. (Did not use emails link to log in :p)

Naturally, a few questions came to mind.

    First, some pics:

    The email header:

    The full email:

    1. How can the phisher make it look like "Jagex Ltd. <[email protected]>" sent me this email?
    2. I'm guessing this is where the email actually came from?
    3. This is the the page that the link sends you to. I'm sure this is fake?

    Thanks for any help :)

you can use anonymous e-mailers to make an email be sent and seem as though it comes from any e-mail.

    1. You can pay for email spoofers to make it look like anything you want
    2. Most likely
    3. That is obviously not the correct runescape web address, just look at it

Can phishers infect your computer if you just open the email? Or do you have to click a link or pic?

In Gmail, if you click the drop-down box next to "Reply", and click "Show Original" you can see who actually sent you the email and if it was DKIM signed and SPF authenticated.

Also, if you get a phishing email, click the Report Phishing button so Gmail will put the red banner on the email :)

No, the only thing is that they could hack into your runescape account if you typed in your password on the fake site.

    No.
And the link is masked, also, you can just change the email to whatever domain you want, not hard lol.

Jagex doesnt email you when it comes to things like this. You are better off always logging onto your account from the official site instead of following unknown links. I have throwaway email accs which I use for fansites and general purposes, and I have a secret email acc for family, personal uses and registering my main account. So unless I get an email on that account, I won't even waste time thinking about opening it.

Just hope that you don't have a virus, keylogger, RAT, etc.

If you have no more troubles out of him since you got your account back, you should be fine.

What I've done, any accounts i actually have an email linked to, i use a completely separate and private email to the one i have to sythe and any other runescape related sites. That way, anyone trying to Phish me always emails the account in which i have no Rs accounts linked to, therefore i know straight off its a fake email.

Also, as far as i'm aware, just clicking on a link cannot give you any kind of virus or keylogger, you need to actually type in your username and password on the site for them to see it. You may wanna run a security check just to be sure tho
