Historic trend / price history of party hats

    Hi all,

I am wondering if there is a website or data available on the historic price trend of party hats. Since they have been above max cash for a long time, data is hard to compile.

I know of the discontinued item price threads on the runescape forums, but compiling data from those threads over many years would be a tedious job and requires web-archive inspection. The reason I am seeking such a graph/data on trends is that I am considering an investment in a party hat at some point, but with recent skyrocketed prices, current entry seems risky, and historic data would help to make up my own mind and understand the market better (other than the obvious long-term increase in ingame-gp worth).

Particularly I am interested in the following data:
    - Price history of party hats
    - Crash dates of party hats/rares and possible reasons why the rares crashed at those times
    - GP RWT price history

Would anyone know of an easy source to access such data?

    Thanks!

Partyhat data stopped being tracked by sites when they exceeded max cash, as far as I'm aware partyhats are PURELY determined by a "what someone is willing to pay" method of pricing.

Their supply is almost solely controlled by the stakers/high rollers of rs3 any data you could get would undoubtly be extremely skewed because so few partyhats are around & traded, just because a purple goes for say 7b today doesn't mean it cant be 10b tomorrow if the stakers and high rollers wanted it to be.

When a item is as rare as a partyhat you can only guess as where their vaule is and will go because if the high rollers said tomorrow lets dump 5-10 phat sets into the economy then ud have a POS hat.

    Thanks for your input, Divine!

Additional question: If I do choose to buy a (blue) party hat (and e.g., involve a middleman), would it be fine to simply receive the party hat over trade (and maybe for example, add some junk like unstrung bows)?

I know the risk of getting a ban for buying gp, even billions, is really low, but I am not sure what the odds are for party hats, especially given their immense rwt and gp value?

Blue party hat was worth ~2.75b in 2012, which was the equivalent of about $700-850.

Blue party hat is worth ~18b now. Which is the equivalent of about $2750-2900.

The higher tiered rares (phats/cracker) rise in monetary value while lower tiered rares(santa/hween set/pumpkins/etc) have shown to hover around their rwt value, fluctuating with the price of gold.

Another example on the lowest end of the higher tier would be a purple phat, which was worth about 1b/$400 in 2012, while now it's worth around 7b/$1100.

I'm pretty sure the only way to acquire the data you're looking for regarding party hats is through searching through and inspecting the official RS forums. You can find GP RWT price history through the threads here on Sythe.org though. You can also consider interviewing gold merchants to discover price trends.

unless ur staking gl, most likely will get flagged and banned, but a blue phat is next to a white which are extremely rare and very rarely traded unless someone is looking ug or a mercher is making $ profit. Whites/blues are usually in the hands of someone who either has it for a keepsake or is hoarding many other items...

Thanks for the info! Would it be safely avoiding a ban by doing it via staking though? For example by counterstaking rares/cash that are 10% value of the phat? Even when my cb level is lower?

I see that there are some phat for $ sellers on the market section of the forum, so I'd think they have their methods to transfer with low ban risk?

    Things i remember.

    In mid/late 2003
Pink (purple now) was the most valuable then Blue, Green, White, Red, Yellow.

    ranging from 3-8mill

after the dupe in late 2003 pink ( now purple ) is now the cheapest. Green and white became the same price.

in 2006 a blue p hat was around 30m while a cracker was only 28m....

over time green seems to have gone down the pecking order.

no... why would stake an item that many ppl go slave off just to buy? why not ust get the cash and stake it rather than waste ur time trying to buy an item that I just mentioned was hoarded by complex individuals...

edit: I'm talking about the phat not rwting it

Just my personal experience, but my lower-tier rares have gone through the fucking shitter and are now worth basically what I paid for them after seeing them triple. It isn't even worth selling them anymore in the fool's hope that they yield in the distant future.

For anyone looking to invest in rares, DON'T LOL. IMHO Runescape is a firework that has been set off too many times, and I don't see it making any sudden movements, especially upwards.

Rare prices are going up but gold prices are going down, there isn't really any money to be made
