Ban the percent claims without evidence (Guides Section)

Once again, due to the Runescape Guides section being so poorly I am this time suggesting that claims of percent without evidence should not be allowed.

    E.g
As you can see, the claims are fairly strong. However, evidence is never given to suggest this claim.

Any percent claims should only be made on a verified guide only unless proven on the page otherwise.

EDIT: The Misrepresentation Act 1967 states that fraudulent or negligent misrepresentation is illegal. That is to say by law they are not allowed to post such things, just like above. This means that Sythe.org has a duty to get rid of all illegal activities on this website.

The negligent misrepresentation considers the possibility that the seller believes the statement is true but has no reasonable grounds to support it.

The fraudulent misrepresentation explains that the seller knew that his statement was false and was dishonest.

For which reason, this has now become a top priority and should be implemented as a rule at an instant.

I really hope you're not serious, We're already pretty strict on rules in the market, this is taking it too far.

Why would it be taking it to far?
If I were to buy a guide I would want it to work 100% of the time.

I can tell you a RSGP method, but it only works 80% of the time (no studies done at all), would you want it????

Now what if the situation was changed?

Now I can tell you a RSGP method that works 100% of the time, with studies to back it up. It has been proven time and time again.
    [Insert proof]

Why would it be such a crime to tighten up the rules a bit?

    100% support.

No support. The claim may actually be true and the user is just warning people who are buying the guide.

Or we could not be extremely petty and anal. We can sit around all day long and rules-lawyering like a bunch of Dungeons and Dragons players or we can try to take the most minimalistic approach to rules that still gets the job done. If the guide sales market completely goes belly-up and dies because this suggestion does not get implemented, then it's probably better off.

Another terrible suggestion thread brought to you by ritchynator0, Sanity Founder.

The site is run by normal people like you and me who take some of their own free time to moderate this site and keep it going. I dont' think we need to get incredibly precise on every single rule because it would lead to a lot more work for the staff. I think the rule is fine as it is. If it's really cutting it close just get it verified. Problem solved.

How is this a bad suggestion at all? It's just basically proof needed to back up your statement. Same rules as every other market section. I'm gonna be pissed off if somebody says works 9/10 times with these standards, then I have the same standards, and try it and it hardly works.

I support something being done about it, maybe some infractions or a temp guide market ban or something, but I don't think they deserve a perm ban. Do if it gets out of hand.

if the seller states that it works only 80% of the time, then surely you guys can understand the risk of buying the guide..

if they say 99.9% of the time, its still obviously a risk.

Sythe staff are attempting to put all liability on their customers and if anything goes wrong, they have to fix it by going through a long winded scam process.

Surely it would be wiser to implement more rules. Not only this, these people are attempting to sell. And, by law, if their claims are found not true by the person that later bought the guide, they are eligible for a refund. The problem is that these people will then run off with their money illegally.

Currently, by attempting to have as few rules as possible, you, sythe, are creating more possibilities of scams.

Not supporting what I'm saying, but in the sense of saving time it takes less time to solve a simple ban dispute from the one stupid person who bought a guide that is too good to be true, then it is to go through and check EVERY guide that has a percentage.

the "Hard Evidence" thing should be a picture..

    Eg:
Start gold or whatever it is, then a pic after of selling (For money making)
Proggy of the Combat training experience for the place (Relating this to Flying's thread), he should post a proggy of his bot, or just him doing it by hand there to actually PROOVE its 40k-200k / hr.

Support, even though it's pretty miniscule of a change.

This should be the least of our worries. With every other newfag on Sythe being a scammer, less effort should be put into checking some irrelevant percentages compared to even more actively pursuing rule breakers. Not that the staff is doing a bad job.

The liability has always been in the hands of a customer, you're not going to get any reform there. You don't like it, buy at your own risk/wait for it to get verified/etc. If someone truly wanted to scam, they wouldn't put a disclaimer at all, they would just sell their guide and do their thing. You have such a backwards way of looking at these things. You really should stop making suggestions.

Seems like you keep suggesting things as if your trying to get a pointless rule approved. If the person says theres a 99.99% chance of success then you know theres a chance it wont work. I don't think you should make them do a 'study' to get a exact percent like 93.49%... and even if you did how are you going to prove that that so called study is legit? No support, pointless suggestion is pointless.

    I like this idea.

If a guide doesn't work 100% of the time - then it should be verified to prove it works like the original poster says it does. Another thing is, it works 80% of the time for the original poster. We do not know the variables he's using (mouse movement speed, stuff like that, if the glitch requires you to move the mouse extremely fast), so the outcome would be different for person to person and not work 80% of the time like the original poster says it does.

The best example of this is the staking hp glitch. The glitch requires you to quickly open a quest and click quest help link whilst in the midst of fighting. The person I got the glitch off worked 90% of the time while for me it only worked 40% of the time.

I have added some information that will help this cause.

This should no longer be considered a suggestion but an enforcement to this website.

No support. It's in your own responsibility to buy that guide and it's in your own responsibility to evaluate whether you want this guide (created from a person who joined this month and which guarantees that his guide works 99.9%...) or not.

    support.

every guide seller should be forced to run at least 1 month of testing utilizing the scientific method, properly documenting every moment of play so that there is enough empirical evidence to make a statistical claim which can then be reviewed by the guide-percentage-claim committee, which should be comprised of no less than 3 administrators. afterward, the results should be sent to the guide-percentage-claim-committee oversight committee, which should be run by several yet-to-be-named super administrators. after all of this, the guide should be reviewed by the guide-percentage-claim-committee-oversight-committee super-oversight panel, which will be run by finn himself and consist of at least 7 years of thorough and rigorous testing, assuring that the guide is in fact up to par with the current guide-percentage-claim-committee-oversight-committee super-oversight-panel-administration administrator's standards.
