another luring thread

Ok so the other poster who made a thread got me thinking.

Why on earth is it legal to lure on sythe? it's the same as scamming. basically what you're doing is allowing people to rip other people off as long as it isn't a sythe member. which isn't right if you scam someone away from sythe forums it's still against the rules so I guess I don't understand why this is different please explain.

and don't say it's because it's their fault for not being safe or because they're dumb. Because a scammer can use the same exact claim yet it's still against the rules.

I have often though this too.. Like you said people say it's different because it's the persons own fault but it's exactly the same as scamming... I really don't think it should be allowed on here =\.

i 100% agree with this, like why would you join a "luring" team? like seriously like it's called that for a reason. Ide never do it unless it was with long time friends ive known on rs. Even then it's a bit sketchy.

I lol'd. I think it's dumb that people have to steal other people's items in order to "survive" in a game. That's when I would come in and say, "Get a life n33b".

I don't think it should be allowed on the forums, as I think it is a form of scamming (as you are typically convincing someone that you are not trying to kill them, and then you kill them for their items). I don't think it should be allowed on the forums either, but it isn't my decision.

Luring is scamming, but scamming isn't luring.

Luring is fooling someone into coming into a dangerous place so that they die. If you follow them there, then you deserve to die. This includes clan wars, which has the potential to be dangerous, the wilderness, or anywhere with monsters that might wipe you out.

It's a scam, but scamming on these forums means that the person usually will lose more IRL than they would if they got lured.

 

People get lured for 100's of mills yet I see people on here being banned for stealing a dollar. I don't think that is fair for the fact that regardless scamming is scamming rather it be 1gp or 10bill

In my opinion there is a very big difference between phishing, paypal abuse, misleading people on msn and just scamming real life money and luring someone on rs for rsgp.
Scamming in sythe trades is bad for sythes because a lot of trades are based on trust. If you can trust no one on this site and you know the moderators here won't do anything about it, ther won't be any trades anymore.
Luring in rs is, no mather what you say about it, part of the game, because it happens in game. In the game you can chose to be safe at all times, the only way you can get pixelhurt is if you believe something that is too good to be true without checking with yourself and other sources if it is really possible. Getting scammed can happen even if you just want to make a fair trade. Scaming and luring are entire different things.

 

Might want to read the Do-Not-Suggest list before you post it there. The only reason Sythe lets people discuss luring is because Jagex does. Luring had been officially made not against the rules by some JMod a long time ago.

 

This has been fought and fought for again. There is a fine line between scamming and luring which is why luring is allowed on sythe.org.
