Legalization of Marijuana in the US

Despite what you may have heard in "DARE" or whatever your anti-drug program is, marijuana is less harmful for you then you think. It's true that marijuana smoke has pretty much the same properties as cigarettes , except for the two main chemicals. Nicotine, the addictive chemical in cigarettes, and THC, the chemical that gets you high in marijuana. Nicotine is extremely addictive, about 2 or 3 times as addictive as heroin. THC is NOT addictive and causes no brain damage except for the short term memory loss while you are high on it, but that goes away as soon as you sober up. Marijuana is considered one of the SAFEST drugs, not killing you in any way except for the smoke going into your lungs, which is going to catch up with you eventually. But even this can be avoided by smoking through a bong or a vaporizer, which will filter out the lung harming chemicals.

or do some googling on your own. Even government studies have proven time and time again that THC is not harmful. The only reason it is still illegal in the US is because our government can make no money off of it.

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be legal. I don't smoke, but a lot of my friends do. It really doesn't make sense, it's less harmful than cigarettes and alcohol.

 

I think any drugs should be legal, people choose to take them or not. I just think they should be illegal outside, because it could cause pollution/harmful enviroment.

 

That brings up another point. The "gateway drug" line they feed to you is also bullshit. Cigarettes and Alcohol are gateway drugs, not marijuana. Most people have the common sense not to do the other drugs that will kill you.

 

Sorry for the double post, but this also is true. Parents should inform their children the truth about drugs, what will kill you and what won't. The government doesn't give a shit about our health, they just want to get their grubby little hands on some fine money.

 

I don't think it is the drug or substance that is the "gateway" rather the people you hang around when you do these things.

 

i agree with viny , on that factor , the gateway is consisting to the people you hang out with its like anything you do , such as for example music , like rock music , you may only like regular rock but there are people that you hang around that gotta be that "hardcore" person and listen to metal or something just like yeah you may only smoke pot but im sure in the group you hang with there are people who do acid in which may be like dude check it , it will make you trip and maybe talk you into that and then a little more harder drug and so on,

as for the "weed" if you will , it has been proven many times smoking 1 "doobie" etc. of weed is like smoking 3 ciggerates, which they can cause lung cancer etc. so your just speeding up that chance that may or may not happen , and as for the temporarily memory loss , your full of shit , it does kill brain cells slowly but surely in which do not come back , it doesnt happen as fast as they say it does but , it does happen , just like alchohol fucks up your liver and heart etc. and as for the government , no they dont care about the people but your full of shit when you say the only reason it is not legal is because they cant make money? they got tons of crops of it all over for medicinal purpose's so why couldnt the grow it for profit if it were to be legalized? , i personally think you need to read up a little more on your facts before you put out your opinions.

 

I think it should be legalized, because its not like crack or meth where you rob family and friends for money to buy it (in most cases). I know its a gateway drug, but if you smoke with the wrong people, and dont do any shit you wouldnt want done to your weed you should be fine.

I say yes becuase its safer than any drug and, really driving a car while high is safer than driving a car drunk

THC causes schizophrenia, The only reason I agree with you is to take the illegal side out of it, so if you do use it you can use it safely.

For real, something is wrong with the world today.
I would say legalize it. Look at Netherlands. A rich small country with legal cannabis. There aren't many hard drug users due to this. And US could earn alot of money from cannabis. Tey could tax it/make coffeeshops etc...

 

Its probably less harmful than the more popular, and legalised cigarretes.

Problem is, Governments world wide make to much profit of the same of Cigarettes, thats why they won't be banned.

Illegal or not, if people to choose to smoke it they will, the laws not really going to change much.

 

My point is that even cigarettes should not be legalized, and so should any other "addictive" substances, it is just my point of view and entitles only me !

Marijuana is one thing, but harder drugs (pretty much all drugs except for nicotine, alcohol, and marijuana) CAN kill you in one dose.

Also, most hard drugs are incredibly addictive. Lives would be ruined by them.

Yes, we'd make tax dollars, but then we'd end up paying about triple that in Medicare costs.
