Old School Music vs. New School Music

We all have our own opinions on this matter. In my eyes it seems like as time moves on it requires less and less talent to become a sensation. I became horrible aware of this when that song by that soulja boy piece of crap became like #1, to me that song is an embarrassment to hip-hop. But when I look at it, hip-hop itself has become an embarrassment to itself... So have many other styles of music. Well, anyway just wanted to know what you guys think about it. Personally I prefer oldies like the Temptations, a little of the Beatles, and so on.

i agree, everything's getting worse... maybe it's just that the audience is getting larger and stupider, it takes less to impress them

You're an embarassment that has no idea what they're talking about. Please live a few more years and open your mind a bit aside from listening to Solja Boy garbage

Hip Hop is more than music, Hip is the knowledge, Hop is the movement.-KRS-One

There is still talent, but its not the people singing it. The people that play the instruments that probably don't like the music at all. The people that slave for hours and hours and maybe even days to make the song sound good. Don't get me wrong, I have most rap, but you hear all the instruments and computer effects and other things that the singers for the most part don't know crap about. Hell even the album covers do. You don't think some random wackjob takes a picture or draws it. No someone makes it. For the most part the singing sucks in rap but you can see the hard work that is put in the other stuff and hardly anyone acknowledges it. It used to be everyone even the band members do, now its the people who when you hear their name you go "who's that?" My 2 cents.

I mainly listen to Rock and Metal, but I can truthfully say there are very few pieces of new material that I actually like. Children of Bodom went to the shits after Hate Crew Deathroll, Metallica's new album sucks, and anything I hear on the radio is just absolutely boring and generic.

I'm starting to wonder why there aren't more modern bands that are like the greats (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Queen etc) because anything I hear nowadays just doesn't impress me. Definitely older music is better.

I will admit there is some good music coming out but much music is brainwashing just about everyone. People don`t search for real music they just go with the groups and listen to what their friends do.

I have seen the Jonas brothers compared to Jimi hendrix, bob marley, metallica, megadeth, and satana; that is how sad it is becomming.

You can't say "older music is better" or "newer music is better" without listening to everything in existence or even the majority of it.

All of you fail to realize music is not a blank piece of paper that you cut into pieces. It's a whole tree that just started growing.

In the scope that I have listened to it, I can say that a lot of new music is terrible.

You have no idea what your talking about... That is referring to the hip hop culture, not the quality of the music.
