Help me maximise the amount of bots.

Basically my computer is has the potential to be hyper-threading enabled (Doubles the processing speed) However I have no idea what so ever how to enable it on that operating system (I installed Linux today)
I've spent the last four hours on Google and every reply seems outdated, I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 on a Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.2ghz processor.
In short, I'm trying to enable hyper-threading in Linux. Any guidance would be appreciated.

 

You have an Intel Pentium 4? Isn't that like a single-core processor? It can probably run one bot with lots of lagging. I would just buy a better computer. Buy atleast an Intel i3, the "i" processor family is very good at hyper-threading.

 

HT doesn't double the processing speed, but improves your computers ability to perform multiple tasks at once.

You have a P4 processor? lol no offense but what you have there is junk as it's so old...you probably won't be able to run more than one bot.

You can turn hyper threading on / off in your computers BIOS. Google "HT + BIOS" for more info.

 

I'm running 6 at the moment without ht.

 

I thought hyper threading should be enabled by default, at least it was on my old Pentium 4 processor, running on windows XP. Anyway, Pentium 4 is very outdated now, and the hyper threading doesn't really make much of a difference, unlike the hyper threading found in the new processors, which are more efficient.

Try and find some software where you can check your processor speed and details, and it should tell you whether your ht is enabled or not. If it's not enabled, I don't know how you would go about enabling it in Ubuntu.

 

It's called overclocking, and it voids the warranty on your computer. If you don't know how to do it on your own, I wouldn't recommend it. If you don't care, then Google it.
