Help with the laws (california)

I am a minor living in California. Would there be any trouble in my mom leaving me with a long time family friend for the rest of the school year of 09-10, so from August '09 to June '10, and would she be able to fill out paperwork required for school for me because it requires to be signed by either parent or guardian; So basically would she be considered my guardian?
P.S. All parties, including me, are happy with this. So this wouldn't be considered abandonment. She is coming once a month from Illinois.

 

I dont know the laws of california but i dont see why not, if they treat you well then it should be ok. And if your family is OK with it then who is gonna say something about it?

Why not ask a person who works in law?

 

There shouldn't be a problem with it. The schools might question it, and might need to sign some things for school. Your mom will probably have to sign a consent thing saying if anything happens to you then the family friend can make a decision.

 

There is no problem with this as long as there is consent all around. If you add kidnapping or abandonment on the streets then we have a problem, otherwise the family friend would be known as the guardian.

 

Why are you asking a bunch of 10 year olds that play runescape? There wouldn't be any problem, the person your staying with is your guardian. I can have my 20 year old friend take care of me and it would be fine. If the person is over 18 you have nothing to worry about.
