    Help with Graphics Card

Hey guys ill cut straight to the point.

Ok so I have very minimal knowledge when it comes to computer specs and what not, but I need some advice on what to buy for a nice rig.

I want the rig to essentially run Runescape 3 in max graphics HD with very little lag/frame freezes being noticeable.

If anyone has any personal experience with a nice graphics card that works well with Runescape 3 HD, or know cards that will live up to the standard I would greatly appreciate a reply.

All other components I'm fine with, just want to work around the Graphics card at the moment then I will do my own research.

Also value for money isn't an issue, I got the money to pay big for a nice solid card(s).

    Thanks in advanced guys!

A 960 would do the trick with the right hardware configuration to play RS in max with no problems.

But if money isn't an issue obviously get the 970 or 980.

Yeah they are there, but WOW the prices are redic.

Seriously, get a USA friend to buy it for you and ship it to you.
    960 there is 319, at newegg it's 199
    970 there is 519, at newegg it's 330
WTF the 980 is 800 to 1000$ and it's 540 at newegg for us...

Holy shit, there has to be better options than that site.

I'm pretty distant from the Runescape scene and might sound like a total idiot when I say this, but DON'T get a 960 for runescape. Runescape is brower based/Java and is almost entirely reliant on your CPU. Your graphics card is just there to display the screen. Hell, my old desktop with onboard graphics max's the game. Whether you're one guy trying to play the game legit or run a bot farm, put the money into your CPU and ram, nothing else really matters. (unless you plan on playing other games on the side)

This is actually truth (somewhat), I haven't played runescape in years; my apologies. Runescape is CPU intensive on the lowend of the game, although a GPU wouldn't be worthless in the situation. The game does utilize shaders and a few other GPU intensive applications, so having an integrated GPU wouldn't be the best idea. At higher resolutions a dedicated GPU will help. A 960, although, would be healthy for a very wide variety of games, if you plan on playing anything other than runescape.

Get a 760TI with a good Haswell or Broadwell i5 CPU and you'd be pretty much set on runescape.

if you're just trying to play runescape maxed, pick yourself an old GT 640 up for about 40-50 bucks and call it a day. RS is not heavy on the hardware. you can easily run it on much less powerful cards than a 640, but they're usually not worth buying or wiping your ass with. a 960 just for RS is WAY WAY overkill. save your money. If you do have interest in real games though, a 960 might serve you well.

Everyone except SASRT8 is grossly overestimating what you need. If you're only looking to play RS maxed with 4x AA and bloom there is really no reason at all to spend more than $100 (really 50) on a card.

I believe they started using OpenGL awhile ago that will make use of your graphics card. Even so, it hardly takes a good card to be able to play I would imagine.

    Help with Graphics Card

Thanks for all the information, just realized I've been running 32bit and not 64bit which was limiting me to only 4gb of Ram with my setup. I'll be getting 64 bit as soon as possible and more ram aswell.

    Cheers again guys.

I would recommend a gtx 560ti or 570. My old 570 still handles newer releases on medium/high and it will give you wiggle room to play other games. You can probably find one for like $60. If runescape is ALL you really want to max out, you just need to make sure your CPU can handle it, but I recommend a decent gpu just incase you do play other games.
