    Help me pick a car!

    Hey guys,

Unfortunately my car was recently written off after being involved in an accident (Non fault), so i am now left with £5 to £7k to purchase a new car.
I have put aside £1 to £2k for insurance (They rape us youngins)
    So a total of £9k

I am 19 with 2 years no claims.

My old car was a golf 1.4 GT-tsi 170bhp, so i am looking at something similar, if not quicker.

Cars i have been looking at:

Seat Leon 2.0 TDI FR - Nice looking car, Dirtyyy Diesel however i dislike 5drs

Seat leon 2.0 TFSI FR -Same as above however more bhp (200bhp)

Corsa VXR- Chavy i know, but i like them in black and are pretty rapid

Cooper s (turbo, not supercharged)- Always been a fan of minis, but expensive repairs

FN2 Civic type R - Very nice interior, high insurance

    Audi a3

    BMW 1 Series

Fiesta Zetec s (Would love a st, but too much :( )

If you guys could help me out with any other suggestions, opinions, stories i would be greatly thankful

    Ciao

Don't get racing stripes on your car... They're douchey and you'll regret it after college or later during college. Girls don't find them attractive and it makes you look like an immature youngin'. I like cars that can get me from Point A to Point B safely :)

I own a German car (Mercedes) and trust me, it's not what you really want for a few reasons. While Germans make amazing cars, their interiors break so easily. What I mean by that is while they'll have great engines, their upkeep is a bit difficult. A/C usually goes bad within a year (I don't know why but no matter how good of an engine the Germans can make, they have shitty air conditions), cup holders break super easily, all plastic parts usually break fairly quickly, radio mishaps are quite common, etc.. I can't really suggest 1 car because that's really broad but what do you need the car for? Would you like something that can take you to and from college efficiently and cheaply, do you care about gas prices, are you a frequent traveler, etc.?

    Help me pick a car!

From a parts point of view stick with something small, avoid BMW's and Audi's and French cars (to avoid hassle).

Do you really need something 200bhp+?

What do you use your car for?

First are you from the UK?

Looks like you want a hot hatch, and for 7k I would probably look at the focus ST..? You can pick them up for around that.

    Help me pick a car!

Car would be used for leisure and travelling to uni and back to my hometown occasionally, as stupid as it sounds, yes i would like something over 170bhp as i feel like my old car was taken from me, if i had crashed and was in the wrong i would 100% be buying something small and cheerful.

    Yes im from the UK
Focus st (older model) is a 2.5 T engine and wouldnt get insured on it :(

Why not just save some money and buy a simple car?

Driving fast won't impress anyone, a nice looking car won't impress anyone (except those you don't want to) and you will have more money in the bank.

Buick's are where it's at homie. Unless you like street racing or looking like a badass they are the way to go!

Haha were in the same boat my current car is 227whp :) I'd probably recommend a mazda speed3. Neat little car with tons of go and it's really quite easy to get it above 300bhp. Not sure how your insurance would treat you though.

Buick's are pretty rare to find in the UK, seeing as they don't sell them here.

Nah the 2007-2008 Mazda Speed3's are something else I believe but look very similar. From what I remember they have a 2.3L Turbo in them with some easy customs and tunes to push that well over 300HP.
