Help verifying Windows 8

I've tried googling this problem to no avail, the solutions either don't work or wish you to download a dubious looking program with little to back them up.

Basically I permanently have this watermark on my screen currently:


When I try to activate windows online it gives me the following:


I wouldn't have a clue what to do, any insight would be appreciated.

 

I'm going to assume you have a legitimate copy of Windows with a legit key?

 

I assume so. The copy is what came pre-installed on the laptop that I purchased second hand via an online shop. The PC settings looks like this so I assume it's a legit copy:

 

Well it could have been a non-genuine copy if it was second hand.

Do you actually know what the code is?
