My Dragonhide Tanning Guide

Ok here is my dragonhide tanning guide.​

I have made about 4mil out of this and have only been doing it a couple of days.

Anyway you can either do this with green, blue or black dragonhides.
(You never do red's because they don't sell in the ge).

(It is useful to have a amulet of glory for this)
The method is:
Buy 3800 dragonhides of any colour except red.
Tele to the alkarid
Have some money in your inventory and 27 hides
And run to the leather tanning shop and tan your hides for 20gp each over
and over until you have done all 3800 (which takes 1 hour).

Then tele back to edge go to the ge and sell your hides.

EDIT: You can tan from 2000 - 3800 hides an hour depending on how quick you are.

The max profit's you make is:
(If you buy avg and sell at avg price)

Green: 608,000 / hour
Blue: 661,200 / hour
Black: 638,400 / hour

So the best profit is with blue dragonhides


P.S. Please do not flame, i know that this guide probably will have been posted before and i wanted to post my version of the guide because it's a great guide and some people may want a good money making method and may not want to look over hundreds of pages to find one.

P.S.S. It is very hard to tan 3800 hides an hour, you have to be on it all the time. No Breathers

i'm about to sound like an idiot...but do you need a certain crafting level to have the skins tanned?

Wow - never knew tanning was such great money! Always assumed it was ~500k/hour. Nice one.

Ahh nice 8/10 since i dont tan alot..

 

It's good for about half of that. You can't do 3800 hides per hour. You can do about 1600 walking and about 2100 running. It takes about 60 seconds walking and about 45 seconds running (because it takes time to drink Energy Potions). You can make about 220k walking and about 320k running.


One problem is that you need a large cash outlay to start. For example, 1600 Green Dragonhides cost about 2.6 million.

Another problem is turnover. To test the walking and running times, I bought 100 Green Dragonhides and tanned them. The d-leathers have been in the Grand Exchange for about 25 minutes, at minimum price. None have sold.

 

Tom jr makes a good point, you need to have money to start off with, or it pretty much defeats the purpose. There's also a small chance that if everyone starts doing it, it'll sell slower aswell.

 

This sounds good but what crafting lvl would be needed for these as Im not really sure of the lvls needed so it seems a good guide apart from that you don't show the required lvls

Yes mate, checked them right before i wrote the guide.

I have in the past been able to do 3800 / hour by running and using energy pots. and also in my experience they all have sold quite quickly at avg price.

Quickest for me has been blue d-leather's sold at avg in about 5 mins.
