Why is my computer running so slowly?

Okay so pretty much in december I got fed up with my old pc and built a budget one.. I think I spent my budget wisely and it was amazing at first. It would run runescape at 50 fps most of the time. Recently I've been skilling for someone on msn and I've been leaving my computer on for a long time. This morning I woke up and when I logged into rs my fps was at 6.

Every now and again I get that swirly windows icon and I get it that swirly icon EVERYTIME i open runescape. I don't know why but it's extremely slow now and i thought it could have something to do with me getting dual monitors?

Ideas?

 

Defragment your HDD with O%O Defrag , also go for register scan.

 

Do disk clean up.

Defrag your PC. There is also another program called 'Smart Defrag' that is a much better version of the Windows one.

Update your graphic card drivers.

Just a few things you can do, I'm gonna write and post a guide soon on speeding your PC up, it's going to be quite the guide.

 

download ccleaner and just run it. It will help free up space and clean up all registry errors.

Done all these things.. It's quicker now but the FPS on rs is still only like 9. On LoL it's 30 yet on RS it's only 9.. Any ideas?

 

Rs has been lagging to hell since the bot nuke. There isn't much you can do to be honest other than wait for Jagex to issue a fix for it. I have also heard that some people get slightly less lag in the RS Client.

 

Perhaps check how many services you have open? If that does not work, defragment your harddrive and download CCLeaner. Use that to clean your PC. IF you're PC is still running slow then Image Restore is your only hope.

 

Goto http://speedtest.tune-up.com/en-ca/2100180/ download tune up, run it, use it, restart. goto www.speedtest.net check out new speed for internet connection, during the process of finding your new speed for internet, you should notice a huge difference in computer latency.

 

Runescape has been laggy in general lately, my computer is at top speeds on everything else, but is only getting 20 fps on Runescape
