Our brains are amazing.

**Note, if you truly want to see the full effect of this, don't magnify (zoom in/out) the image (in Paint) in any way**


To start this thread off, first copy and paste the following image into Paint:





Then, use the "Colour picker" tool to pick the blue colour





Then, use the Paint Bucket to fill in the navy blue colour on the right of the image (attached on to the picture already)





Look at the colour in the box you just filled in.


Now, do steps 1 & 2 with the green spiral





Post your results afterwards.

Do you not get it? Our mind tricks us into thinking that the colour is blue, when in fact it is actually green. Both spirals are green. There is no blue in that picture at all. None. But clearly you don't understand that.

I used to collect books of optical illusions, and I've seen similar versions - but this one is new.

I thought this illusion was crazy, weird that there is no blue in there at all.

 

I think this would suggest that our brains actually aren't very clever!!

 

Well, I suppose so, but our brains trick us into thinking that it is blue. Brain = very clever

Pretty cool. I still can't distinguish the color even though i know it's the same.

 

My paint selector picked purple for the blue spiral and green for the green spiral. Whats the illusion?

Edit: My paint messed up, but I can see that blue spiral blends in with the green now that I look closer.
