    Headphone advice needed!

The coming golf season is upon us and thus means I'll be back to my ever so exciting job while I continue searching for work in the firefighting field.

My job involves hours of running machinery that is both loud AND boring. I need to find a combination of head phone or ear bud that will fit under some sort of hearing protection that is normally attached to my hardhat. The set up I tried using last year was both uncomfortable and still required me to have my volume up near max to hear the music.

Do you have any suggestions for some good ear buds or something that will cancel the noise of my tractor(s) and allow me to listen to my music at a reasonable level without causing myself hearing damage? :p

get a pair of shure ear buds, they are top of the line amazing, although rather expensive. The company is nice when they get damaged and will usually send you a pair back. comfort is nice, and durability is awesome. Sound quality is as natural as you can get without going into the $500+ range

In terms ofactive noise canceling, as much as it hurts me to say it, you can't get any better than Bose when it comes to blocking out sound. I personally have never heard a single Bose speaker that makes me say "wow that sounds good" but their prowess in canceling out noise is above all others. CNt believe I just recommended Bose to someone,,,,

Sennheiser's CXC 700s might do the trick. They do a great job cancelling out the noise around you. Read some reviews about them and see what you think. Don't buy directly from Sennheiser or be prepared to overpay.

If the machinery is loud then you need hearing protection, not music... If you average over 85 db over an 8 hour shift then OSHA requires it. (dunno if you live in the US, but it's still a good idea, trust me)
