Has something changed regarding RWT bans?

I used to sell RS3 regularly on over 10 accounts while in college to make some extra money and none of them ever got a RWT ban but haven't done it this year.

A friend who knew about it and also plays Runescape asked me about it yesterday, so I told her about this site and even showed her the seller I usually sold to. She has never sold or bought gold before but had an alt account with stats around 50s that she used to flip on and had a lot of gold on it so she decided to sell 1000m as a trial.

Everything went smoothly with the buyer but then, today she called me and told me that she has been permabanned for RWT.

So whats going on here? I've done this for 100s of times for years without any problems at all, usually 500-1000m at a time, no bans. Have they started cracking down on gold sellers the past 6-7 months? Could it be that they were monitoring the account because it had no high stats but had a lot of gold on it? (10+bil) or just bad luck?

Also whats odd is that it took them less than 24h to ban her which means it was possibly automated? Especially on a weekend. I thought about returning on selling gold soon but most of my old accounts have maxed stats now so not sure I want to risk it.

 

Gold selling has always been banable, i think you just have to be unfortunate enough that you traded with someone who was being monitored, or your trade just happened to flag up.

My current mule for gold selling i've had for a year it's only level 20, with a few quests and 50b+ have gone through it.. i guess it's just luck really.

It's probably a combination of factors. What @Link mentioned is probably a large part of it. The buyer was probably flagged, leading to your friend being collateral damage. It's possible your friend could have triggered some sort of flag by doing something erratic and out of her norm by selling for the first time.

 

I look at RWT the way I look at botting. If you only RWT on the account or if you only bot one skill on the account, it makes it look suspicious. For your friend, her account was used for flipping a lot of gold, without training any skill and only flipping gold, which could have put a red flag on her account. With a red flag already on her account and trading with a gold seller/buyer, that calls for a recipe of disaster.

Next time, I suggest training some skills and actually playing the game, before selling/buyer a bunch of gold.

Nobody knows methods but, I know people who have been banned for small amounts, and people who have not been banned for large amounts.

 

I've seen twitch streamers get banned for gold farming lately.

What stands out to me is the fact that they trade people bills all day long, for months, then that 1 time they sell it for cash, they get banned.

Like how the fuck do they know that 1/1000 trades was a rwt. crazy.

 

cus the buyer is known rwt. and is being tracked.. always sell to friends

 

Apparently people are saying they're cracking down on it according to other threads. Keep me posted if you find out
