Has anyone else sold GP through CraigsList? Because I do it All the time

A lot of people look at me like I’m crazy when I tell them I sell most of my gold through real life transactions via CraigList. But in my area, I average 3-5 deals per month and I am able to charge 25%+ more for the gold. 95% of the buyers are your average players who actually play the game for fun and their reasoning for not buying via gold sites is they think it’s all a scam. You would be surprised how many people think the gold selling black market is all a scam.

I’ve been selling gp through CraigsList for the last 10 years and I’ve never once had a problem with the transaction. It’s extremely simple. Meet at a half way point based on our locations. Usually StarBucks, McDonalds, Library. Both bring laptops. Show them the gold, they hand over the cash. Check each bill with a money marker, and accept the trade.

One time a I had a guy drive 3 hours to meet me at a Library. He was so desperate for GP he paid me $1.50/m for 3B back when gp was hovering around $1.10/m. That was one of my best profited deals.

Anyone else do the same?

It really depends. I run xers so I only average about 5B per month playing in the evenings since I work all day. But I average at least $500-$2000 per month just off Craigslist transactions. And a few K through discords/Sythe.

 

Can confirm Craigslist is good for selling. I've moved at least $10k through craigslist. Most of the people, like OP said, don't trust anyone who isn't right in front of them to give you their gold.

And the people you meet! I had one guy bring all his college friends, literally 8 of the nerdiest cliche looking kids you can imagine. Then there's the older people, the oldest I met with seemed to be in their 50s and it was a woman.

All in all pretty good way to sell gold and get real money in your hands.....

 

Dude same. I love selling gold through CraigsList. This one guy I met owns a grocery store. He is like 25 and took over for his parents. Every time I meet him, he takes me into the grocery stores office and we do the deal. Before I leave he lets me take any meats I want. I usually grab a few steaks. Most people I meet are colleges kids or just your normal 20 year old guy who plays RS casually and needs 200-500m for Skilling/PVMing.

The oldest person I met was a 30 year old IT guy. He was super nerdy and weird and kept getting lost on his way to a McDonalds. There just happened to be a police officer on lunch right near the table I was at, and when the buyer came and sat down, he was like panicking and thinking I was setting him up or something lol. It took like 10 minutes of convincing and talking to him for him to finally do the deal lol.

 

How profitable is this? My friend offered to help me do this but not sure if it's worth it. How often does a trade happen for you?

 

I am able to charge much higher for gold. Current rate is about .70/m black market. I charge .95/m for real life transactions. So for a 15-20 minute drive for the 700M I sold over the weekend. I was able to get $175.00 more than I would selling on Discord’s. It’s June 21st and I’ve only done 2 real life deals this month, and about 10 deals via Discord/Sythe, but I don’t rely on selling GP as an income so it doesn’t bother me if I have 10 trades in a month or 1.

 

I knew osrs/rs gold was quite everywhere but I didn't think it'd be on craigslist lol.

 

Maybe after mobile this will be more of a thing!

Honestly only sold twice through my local craigslist but was able to sell for about .20c higher than the regular asking prices. The market isn’t as active with sellers or consumers but doesn’t hurt to have it up there

I’ve actually bought and sold accounts through craigslist before and had pleasurable experiences. It’s much easier to trust an OO that you’ve met in person and have physical contact information for both as a buyer and a seller.

 

It's way easier than people think and you'd be surprised how many people are willing to meet up for some gold.

 

Not necessarily you can check my vouches I've sold over 4B+ this month and took a week off for vacation not to mention the sales I make to people who don't use Sythe, or leave vouches =/

 

Iv sold on a Canadian craigslist called Kijiji and you can get some pretty sweet deals on it.

 

Nice I should see if they have that in my area.

 

I would never sell on craigslist, too sketchy. There was an article back then that discussed a runescape player being robbed at gun point in the library, trying to sell gold.
