Is Racism A Major Issue In America Today?

We are not equal at all. Equal in rights maybe, but not really anything else.

Anyway i dont really think it is a big problem anymore. Or else Rap music (which is MOSTLY(not all i know) done by the African American race) wouldn't be listened to that much. WHICH it is...

There is still a little racism, but around where i live, thats not true.

 

id say we are all equal if someone proved it. i live in southern california, (mexican central). if we are all equal, why are they killing people, vandalizing things, and robbing stores when almsot all the white people arent? if we are all equal, try to act it.

It's an issue, but not a major one. I think that as time passes, it will become largely irrelevant, outstripped by far more important issues.

 

Every other person in my city is like a minority in the country.

 

Dude, that's a major stereotype... Not all Mexican-Americans are like that. Some minorities take into crime because of racism. If you think about it, it isn't just those minority groups who steal/etc. Many Caucasians steal, cheat, lie, heavily-drink as well as some other minorities.

Now... As a Chinese-American I am stereotyped all the time. When I moved out of the city and into the suburbs the ratio of Caucasian to Asian was probably 200:1. And here are all the questions I was asked ALL the f*cking time...
Do you know Karate? Can you beat me up?
How come you're so smart? Do you study?
Do you eat rice all the time?
Were you born in China? Did you just move from China?
Say something to me in Chinese... please!!

 

yea racism is going to be around the u.s. all the time. either way being a minority in the u.s. is great b/c u get an advantage wen it comes to going into a college and getting a job. only way ppl wont be racist towards u in the u.s. is if u have money. lots of it

 

I believe that it is a major issue today, but also that it has always been there in human history and always will, you can not stop people from making their own personal judgments on others who are different than them, and its not always to one group such as the Africans or hispanics

It is a kinda middle road thing imo. I believe that some people use it as an excuse to justify their reasons though which angers me.

 

its not a stereotype, i live here dude. people die every day. stored get robbed. there were mexicans trying to cut leaves off of a tree in my neighborhood to sell as crafts! my god, its true dude.

 

It's an issue but not as big as the other issues that are concerning the US at the moment. We've got futile oil-wars to fight, other countrys' business to get into, and the ever-present corrupt politicians to futilely attempt to expose.
