    Gun control

Do you support the government's being able to control what firearms certain people may or may not own?

    Discuss, etc.

No, I don't support any gun control over any citizen that is not a felon or an ex-con.

Why, not because I have a right to own a gun, because I don't think making the gun control laws more strict will decrease crime.

well... you see someone walking down the street, you gonna walk up to them and say, "hey nice gun... can i have a look? Yeh... trey calbire 24, mines only a 22 and a half, shot a beer can once... it was crazy..."

In Australia, they control the whole gun thing, they need to so they can keep people shooting other people - and believe me they need to.

I can see how you guys want to have a gun with you and everything, because believe me i've wanted to be holding a gun in certain situations, but will you honestly ever use it?
Someone breaks into your house - you shoot him... whats that? 25 - life for murder? Worth it?

    Shredderbeam, what do you think?
Do you seriously want people to legally walking around with military-grade assault rifles?

    No, I don't.

First of all its the second amendment.. Second of all do you honestly think it would be good for the people who would have to take the guns away from the select few mentally unstable people?

    YES!
It IS a good thing to take them away - but how would be the problem.

Who cares about the amendments - use your moral judgement and common sense.

Do you need a high powered weapon?
Do you really need a hand gun?

Seriously... i dont understand this.... shopping trolley handle bars have always worked good where I'm from :(

I understand some of the reasoning for taking guns away.

One problem it guns aren't just there to hurt people. They are used as and for hobbies, sports, etc..

Ever since this country was founded guns have been a huge part of it.

Some high powered rifles are used for sport, such as big game hunting.
Some people carry hand guns for protection.

If somebody breaks into my house, I should be able to defend myself with impunity. Besides, if it boils down to a life or death situation, I wouldn't get a sentence anywhere near 25 to life.

I think that gun control is madness. The government has no business with how I conduct my personal life.

Perhaps I do, yet that is my own business, and remains fully unconcerned with the government's affairs.

I think there should be better gun control for convicted felons who have done their time.

As for normal people, with a clean record, I should be able to get a gun with no interest from the government.

Someone should have to undergo proper training for the use and safety of a firearm, and take a psychological exam before they are permitted to get a firearm. The government also needs to clam down on illegal firearms.

Then, for the private act of purchasing a firearm, the government must be involved? They will actually have some say in the situation?

The purchasing of a firearm is a private act, though. Who is to enforce this proper training rule?

If you've been convicted of a crime, yes. It is logical that if you have committed a crime in the past, You will be more likely to commit one in the future.

If you're an average citizen though, I don't see the point in any government interaction.

Driving a car is a private act, who enforces the licensing of that; I doubt you are suggesting that there is a problem with that aspect of licensing. Contract the job out to a private organization, as is done in parts of Canada and I believe the United states for drivers licenses.

The government has no right to have a say in what the people purchase.

Public licensing is idiotic. If the people want it, they can use private contractors.

I think gun control is too controlling now. Sure, if someone was convicted of a crime, they cannot own a gun. Either way, from the use a the black market, people will still get their hands on guns.....sad really

Not sad really, just human nature. If gun control is increased then people will run guns in the states. It will be harder to get one and more expensive, but people will have them. Just look at how well drug control is working.

Honestly, I don't like the idea of the government telling me what I can and can't own as an individual. But, I do see that guns cause more trouble than good. So I'm undecided at the moment I suppose. I own a handgun and hunting rifles and shotguns. I like being able to own these things without a problem with the law, but I do know people will use guns as an offensive weapon much more than a defensive weapon.

Conclusion, keep gun control laws the same for my personal gain. To hell with everyone else.

i think its alright to an extent. saying that u cannot have guns is going a bit over. but something along the lines of... u can only own x amount of guns, this caliber gun is illegal and wont be made available to public, and a full background check must be made. this would include if uve ever had any police run ins, if u went to therapy for any reason and so on

It is an amendment to have the right to bear arms, this means you have the right to carry a registered gun, so if the government restricts you to only a pistol, how the hell will you shoot a deer...

Yes, we shouldnt even be able to have guns, if people want to hunting so bad, then they can do it with old fasiond shit.

If they want to go shooting at a range, then they should be able to buy them there.

Guns are just going to cause problems and wont help anyone.

Guns don't help protect you, and if someone is going to kill you, you probably wont have the chance to pull out your gun.

I actually do see where you're coming from. But I don't really get which part you
    don't like.

Do you mean there wouldn't be a record of you're ownership, or do you mean you would be able to own any type of weapon, or just all of it?
