Guide to use Torrents

Downloading, installing and playing torrents.

Using torrents is a great way to get games, movies and other files you want. You have to be very careful though because many can contain trojans and other viruses that can harm your computer. Always scan the files before and after downloading and even after installing it for good measure.
Now to get started you’ll need a torrent client. You can use Bittorrent, uTorrent or another client. I use Bittorrent and haven’t had any problems with it. After you’ve downloaded and installed the client just go to Google and type in what you’re looking for. For example say you want to play GTA5 but don’t want to spend a fortune. Google “GTA5 torrent” and go to the site. BEFORE you download it do some research on the site to find out if the poster is reliable, check their profile, look on the forums, see how long they’ve been on the site etc. Someone who's been around for a while and uploads torrents frequently is, in my mind, less likely to upload infected files. Still scan everything you download and virus scan your pc regularly. Another good tip is to pick one that has a lot of "seeds". This indicates that many people have downloaded it. A file with 600 seeders is safer than a file with just a few, but that’s just been my experience. A file with more seeds also downloads faster. Once you’ve found one that looks good go ahead and download it. Make sure you click the right link though, I’ve noticed many sites have a ton of adverts that say “Click here to download” or something similar that just takes you to a different site. After the torrent is downloaded your ready to install.
Most games are in an image file format, which is basically a virtual CD or DVD. You’ll need to download a program to create virtual drives on your pc so you can “mount” them. There are several out there but you really just need one. PowerIso works well for me, it’s free and easy to use. Alcohol 120% is also a good program but requires a subscription unless you find a cracked copy. Id also recommend getting WinZip, also free and easy to use. After you’ve downloaded the torrent go to the folder where you have it downloaded to and mount the CD image to the virtual drive, if you’ve got PowerIso just right click, scroll to PowerIso, click mount on drive. This is just like putting in a CD. You can burn these images to a CD if you’d like although it’s not required unless you don’t have much space on your hard drive. IsoBurner works for this provided your PC has the ability to burn disks. Remember to scan it before installing. Install it like a regular CD, most games need a serial number, often called a key. You can find one by Googling but sometimes there’s one included on the image or theres a key generator, called a keygen. Usually if you use a keygen or get a key from Google some of the features of the game, like online registration and other online based features wont work so trying to torrent a mainly online game, like World of Warcraft, Diablo, Second Life etc, is just a waste of time.
After you’ve installed the game most of the time you’ll have to “crack” it to be able to play it without mounting the image every time. To do this locate the folder that says “Crack” on the CD (Go to my computer, right click the drive the image is on, click explore) Copy the file, then go to the folder where the game was installed and paste it, click yes to overwrite existing file and your good to go. You can then create a shortcut for your desktop for quick access. I’ve noticed if you re name the shortcut sometimes it doesn’t work. Of course if you don’t want to go through all that trouble just mount the image each time.
In a nutshell heres a recap:
1.) Verify, scan and download torrent.
2.) Mount image files, install.
3.) Crack it.
4.) Enjoy the game and let your wallet breathe a sigh of relief.

Ive downloaded over 1000 movies and havent found a virus yet. I recommend downloading from only trusted users. Always look at the comments and such. I use uTorrent and VLC media player for the best quality.

 

Utorrent is flawless, others don't seem to work with my comp.

Utorrent remove the ads, download peerblock and use piratebay instead of wasting money on private torrent

 

Good guide, but there is no pic's Next time spend more time on it cuz it is more interesting to read and understand everything with screens

 

Really all you have to do to use a torrent is follow what the step by step points are in the description or by reading the READ ME FILE that people always ignore. Only problem iv had with torrents is running old games and having a non updated version or something like that. As long as you scam before opening the files you should be good on that note.

 

My favorite torrent is Vuze. Easy!

 

Buying your content legally and supporting the artist / developer / producer seems like a more fair and honest path than just holding up a middle finger to them and saying "you don't need my money!".
