    [Donor] in Titles

Okay so basically, I made this thread because I have seen multiple threads out there on the blackmarket which advertise that they are [Donators] within there thread title. How does this deem you trustworthy? I am just curious as to why this new trend has arised.

P.S: If you disagree take it easy, don't kill me. :noworry:

It doesn't symbolize trust, and a user can put anything they want in their signature as long as it doesn't break the rules. I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Not on signatures, on thread titles. Like you start a service and on the thing itself it sais [Donor] like if it's supposed to mean anything regarding the service.

Oh my bad. That's what I meant. But I still don't get why it'd bother someone to put that in their thread title.

Perhaps they feel like you should trust them more because they have put money into the community and are therefore less likely to squander it by being banned.

However, nothing should be a reason for you to fully trust them other than previous experience. Vouches, post count, ranks, status, and reputation should only be indicators, not deciding factors.

EDIT: hahanerd25 how is it you have no donator rank yet you have a custom usertitle?

Doesn't bother me just simply asking to see if anyone knows if there's a reason for it. That's all.

    45.

And we must have posted at the same time, which is why you didn't see it. I'm a $50 donor.

They can put any of their ranks in their thread title if they want. It doesn't constitute trustworthiness, most people know that. If someone feels it makes their thread appear more official I have no problem with it.

If someone looks at it as an emblem of trust that's on them.

Oh I see. That's an interesting bug.

EDIT: I really disagree with the usage of Donator status and Postcount Ranks in thread titles though.

Yea it happens to me often but anyways on-topic:

I put the [Donator] in titles to show that I have contributed and donated to the site which I guess for some people think means that I am trusted because I donated but from my honest opinion, donating to the site shouldn't mean you are trusted, even if you have donated large amounts because it really doesn't have anything to do with trust.

Maybe, as the above posters have stated that it puts that they have put money into the community Therefore make it less likely that they will scam.

Scenario: A level 3 joins Sythe and he has 22 attack with membership. He comes on Sythe and posts with [Donator] in his title, trying to do some business. Would I trust him? Obviously not.

Look at the vouches of the other user, posts, and ask a respected/well-known member of Sythe whether they think you can trust them or not. If the results are not as desired, then I would suggest not trading with the user, or using a middleman for added security.

Also, I don't think the use of Donator, User Educator, fun ranks, or other ranks that don't relate to trust should be allowed in titles, but that is up to the discretion of the Staff.

But if you are buying like a pin from 600$ donator then u should feel somewhat secure, i dont think he wants to get banned and lose his 600$ for a mere pin.

    Locked.

Moreover, if someone has donated $50, they are unlikely to scam $40, for example.
