Can you not use control panel? think theres somthing i've seen in CP.

For vista try this http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/customize-your-windows-vista-logon-screen/ Haven't used it so can't recommend it. Or try this for xp http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314493 Same thing as above I can't recommend it as I haven't done it.

Oh Also when you press ctrl + alt + del you will see it there as well ;D
