How To Ollie On A Skateboard

How To Ollie On A Skateboard.

The ollie is the most basic trick in skateboarding. You can't skate unless you can ollie. Basically, what an ollie is, is jumping with the board under your feet. In other words, you get up into the air. This trick is the base of all other tricks. By learning this trick, you can do others such as the heelflip, kickflip, and tre flip etc.

Without learning this trick, there's nothing really to do except shuvits, which aren't very fun to do.

    What you will need:

-Flat Surface (carpet works VERY WELL). I would recommend carpet if you are VERY AFRAID of getting hurt. Usually people just use a flat surface such as pavement, because it's much easier to learn tricks while moving, and is much better to do. Mainly because once you can do a trick while moving, you can learn other moves easier.

-A Skateboard. PLEASE do NOT buy your skateboard from wal-mart or target or one of those stores. Buy it from your local skateboard shop, ccs.com, or a trusted website.

Skateboards from stores such as wal-mart are CRAP. They have TERRIBLE bearings. Bearings are little things in the wheel that allow the wheel to spin fast.

Also, wal-mart boards break easily. If you land a trick wrong the board can easily snap in half.

    -A helmet helps

    -Any other desired pads

    Procedure:

    Step 1 -

Place the skateboard on the ground. It works better if it doesn't move. It's harder to perform tricks when moving in the beginning. When you get better at the trick, THEN you should do it while moving. Doing the trick while moving can help you learn new tricks such as grinding, performing an ollie down a flight of steps, and so on.

    Step 2 -

Place your feet like this on the board. It's quite tricky to put them in the right place. Put your back foot as far back on the tail of the board as you can. Hang the heel of your foot off the tail a bit. (it helps with the POP)

    Step 3 -

Crouch down and slam the back end of the board down while jumping. Crouch down as low as you can because it helps you get a bit higher than you would without crouching down as far as you can. When you jump, suck your knees in as far into your body as you can. This brings the board up higher.

    Step 4 -

Slide your front foot up to the front of the board. The key to sliding is simple:

Slide your front foot forward when you board first gets in the air.

    Step 5 -

Brace yourself for the landing. Make sure to keep your body level. Also, don't lean forward or back. If you lean forward, your front wheels will hit first and you will fall forward. The same goes for leaning backwards, except you would fall backwards.

    Step 6 -

    Land. (pretty self explanatory)

Now you know how to ollie =)

It's all about the foot slide, even if you are a pussy ass jumper you can still do an impressive ollie if you slide your feet on the board correctly with good grip tape.
