unfortunatly its all old stuff was handed down the computer from my brother, do you think it would be better starting again with a new computer or just putting a few new parts in it?

Budget is around $2000 if need be

looking at playing arma 3 on high or max if possible?

Upgrading PC parts or new computer?

You're probably going to want to replace pretty much everything. You can salvage your optical drive, hard drives, and maybe your case.

    Do you need any peripherals?

Here is a sample build I just threw together. $2000 is a very awkward budget point. Performance per dollar starts going down pretty quickly after around $1200

And here is one final build. It goes slightly over your $2000 budget but you get a 6 core CPU with an x79 chipset motherboard which means you get features like quad channel memory and more PCI-e lanes if you ever decide to add more graphics cards.

If you have any other price points you'd like builds for just let me know or if you need peripherals.

Upgrading PC parts or new computer?

I didn't really check over the parts this guy posted ^^ but he has the right idea. Salvage the small things like the case/extra hard drives/mouse/keyboard/monitor ...

But it's time for a new computer. I'd suggest building your own, what is your budget? I built a strong computer that can run most games on ultra, for under 1000$. If you need any help with anything just shoot me a pm :)
