    Windows XP installation.

Error on an old PC, need to repair with windows XP disk.
If I try to boot off it, it either runs through the BIOS to the first screen, resets. and does that again, or it sits on the blue screen, not doing anything.
    Help needed please.
    /waits for kill dank.

    EDIT:
Reset the CMOS and it seemed to work again.

So you're trying to repair the OS, not re-install it?

What is the first screen you're talking about? It can be different depending on the computer's bios version. Or is it a screen that is associated with the XP installation disk?

    Corrupt installation disk? RAM malfunction?

If it can't load ALL the files to the RAM, it would stay on that screen. If it can't load the files from the disk, it would stay on that screen. Does the installation disk work on any other computer?

Try re-seating the RAM or running a diagnostic on it if possible. I had a stick messing up once before. It still showed up, but my computer would do some really weird stuff. Finally figured it out and switched out the faulty stick.

Just two possibilities off the top of my head.

It's not the disk(orig disk did the same but i lost it so i torrented another copy and thats the one im using)
Will run the ram diagnostic if I can ever get in windows, it's only got 1 stick of ram but ill switch it over to the other slot and see what happens. (this is just an old p4, 512mb rig for my dad)

EDIT: got onto windows, i switched the ram. Dunno if it fixed it, cos its rly unpredictable. will run memtest asap.
Memtest passed. might be the ram slot, or it's still buggered and just wants to work at this minute. will find out eventually. Cheers Kill Dank. <3
