    ~$1000 New Build PC Help

Hey, im thinking of building a new pc with a budget of around $1000, currently im thinking of this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Pmie . any improvements/suggestions/tips with overclocking? currently its slightly over budget but acceptable i would say. would be my first build so if ive made any silly errors like components not working together please let me know. use it for botting and gaming.

Also would it be worth just getting a premade PC like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229360 or similar instead or is it still cheaper + better to build your own?

Not bad, I would stick 16GB of RAM in there tho.

If you plan on upgrading the RAM at a later time, why no go for a set that is slightly less expensive? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/patriot-memory-pv38g186c9krd

Also, you may want to think about a different SSD... The Samsungs (from what I could tell when reading and analyzing reviews) seemed to have worse random r/ws than most other SSDs.

Try for a Crucial/Plextor/Intel as they seem to have better stability and recover-ability - as the drives get used they get worn down (and so they're slower). If I remember correctly the Crucial recovery was insane - almost back to brand new performance specs. They're all (relatively) in the same price range so you might as well get what you pay for, right?

Defo build your own, cheaper and if anything breaks you know how it's all put together and you can diagnose the problem easier.

Case: I cant see why the antec case is that much better for 15$ other then coming with dust filters however the NZXT case does come with a USB 3.0 port.
CPU cooler, gunna go with the EVO i think, no brainer.
HDD: Seagate Barracude seems cheaper pretty much just as good again.
SSD: After comparing the samsungs and looking at a few others i think the OCZ Vertex 4 is best. faster then the 840 and only slightly more expensive.
Power: Semi modular for an extra 5$ why not
GPU: Went for the better one
MOBO: went for the cheaper one, realised that it only handls 1600 ram
Memory: Looking at DDR3-1600 corsair vengeance seemed decent and cheap.

Current setup: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PyxW Slightly more expensive but i feel much better considering the GPU improvement

    Any further thoughts?

As stated by Risk It - get the i7-3770K from MicroCenter (It's $80 cheaper and you have to purchase something else from there anyways). That gives you a little extra in your pocket.

Don't skimp out on a case because it's less expensive (similar to a PSU)... Without proper airflow, the case may not circulate the air properly causing excessively hot temperatures (which is already a problem with the GTX Series cards if I remember).

SSD: I would stay under the $1/GB mark if you can... Going over $1/GB - especially for an OCZ is not really worth it (IMO). As stated, go for the other ones. Check with people/places that test them for things like longevity/recover-ability (tom's hardware/SSD forums/etc.). I personally went with a Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240GB SSD SATA3 MKNSSDCR240GB-DX (acquired for $150) and I boot in <8 seconds as well as call up high-end programs (Photoshop) in about 2 seconds.

ill double check on the case and from the reviews i think the SSD will be worth it as its only small one for OS/important software/games.

Someone on another site suggested that my current memory modules are quite large and may get in the way of the heatsink? any second opinions on this or should i spend an extra $12 to get smaller modules of the same type?

I run another RAM -G.Skill Ripjaws - along with a Hyper N520... It fits fine with that combination (which is wider/shorter I believe). But the RAM you're running is tall (I have an old set of vengeance). I would stick to something a little shorter...
