After neglecting to do so for several years now, I just passed the behind the wheel.

Am I all grown up yet? (i'm 21 btw)

Anyone here older that hasn't bothered with it? In truth I haven't bothered because work was so close I just rode a bike.

I only got mine at 20 years old.However in my country we can only get it from age 18.But still those 2 years could have been much easier with license

In Norway, it cost 5k $

Don't remember, but I only paid for the written or whatever it was and it was like... err... $40? Can't even remember. I didn't pay anything for the behind the wheel unless the fee I paid originally was part of that.

Got my beginners when I was 16 and I'm 20 now and still have to get my full G (Canada). I drive 30km to work so a vehicle is a must for me. When I'm at school everything is within walk in distance of me or I can longboard. Congratulations though m8.

Can you explain whats the difference between regular and beginners license?

I have read somewhere that its really costly.But on the other hand, i think level of new drivers and driving culture is very high in your region.Thats probablt because government looks serious at preparing new drivers

 

Sounds like they have a similar weird process to getting a full license as Australia does.

 

These are licenses where I live at (Ontario, Canada). I still have another year to get my full G or I have to get them all over again (if you don't get it 5 years after your G2 then you have to start over from G1 loll), should book an appointment soon though.

G1 licence
(Written test)
By law, when you have a G1 licence, you must:

maintain a zero blood alcohol level (no alcohol in your blood)
make sure every passenger with you wears a properly working seatbelt
not drive between midnight and 5 a.m.
not drive on 400-series highways or high-speed expressways (e.g., 401, Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW), Gardiner Expressway)
drive with a fully licensed driver who has:
at least four years of driving experience
a blood alcohol level of less than .05 (if this person is 21 and under, their blood alcohol level should be zero)

G2 licence
After passing your G1 road test, you get a G2 licence. You practice with your G2 licence for 12 months. You can now drive:

without another experienced driver in the car
on all Ontario roads
at any time of the day, in most cases
You must still:

have a zero blood alcohol level
carry only as many passengers as there are working seatbelts
If you are 19 and under, some other restrictions still apply.

G road test
This is the second of two road tests you take as a new driver.

you can take the test after 12 months with a G2 licence
the test covers more advanced driving skills (e.g., driving on a highway, parallel parking)
once you pass, you get a full G licence

Lol, I'm in the same boat myself. Looking to get my license sometime this summer, but where I'm from I'm too old now to do Behind the Wheel so I have to take the actual driving exam instead.

 

I got my beginners like zippy and never bothered to continue for my drivers. I didn't even give my papers in for my beginners so I don't technically have it and it's been a year lol hopefully, it's not too late and I can still get it, I plan on going next week. I don't really care for a license as I grew up without a car and I find a car to be a huge waste of money especially if you live in the metropolitan area. The only reason why I even began it is because my parents insisted I start and get it before it becomes harder to get one (getting one in the past was ridiculously easy compared to now). Congrats on getting it though.

 

Woow. thats really long process compared to where i live.All we have to do is to pass a test of Rules of the Road, then a driving test and thats all.We get a limited license, which only has a minor speed limits in highways.After 2 years, we change it to unlimited one and thats all.

I think this simplicity is guilty for number of deaths on our roads.We are #1 in this category in Europe ;S

 

Probably the same reason here in the US. The behind the wheel test was easy as shit and i'm just like... this is why we have so many idiot drivers in America. lol
