    CPU upgrade Help

    Im looking to upgrade my PC but need help, I currently have an Intel i3 and am looking to get i7, what i want to know is; will I need to get a new Motherboard? I have looked at the manufacturer and model number but it has no specific model number. Thanks.

    CPU upgrade Help

    You can upgrade it. Your CPU socket is a LGA 1155. You should be able to replace your current CPU, if the newer CPU has the same or lower wattage than 65w. You may be able to replace it with a higher wattage CPU, but since you don't know what motherboard you have I can't really tell you.
    Anyways this CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116503 is your best option without knowing what motherboard you have.

    Also you can download CPU-Z to see what motherboard you have.

    Like dank said, your best bet is to get the i7-4770 if you're not looking to upgrade your motherboard. Most likely your motherboard is a lower-end chipset that has very basic functions and has no overclocking capability as well.
