    Gaming Laptop Advice

Alright, so I'm thinking of entering the market for a gaming laptop. I'm going to be selling my custom made PC, as I won't be able to bring it with me easily on deployments, etc, and currently my barracks only allows laptops. I have an Xbox but let's be honest, I miss my MMO's.

I don't have a set budget, but I don't want to spend too much or too little. I want performance and I don't want to skimp out just to save a few bucks, but I also don't want to give away a good deal.

I'd say around $1500 is my limit. Feel free to go a little above, but I don't want a Razer Blade or some shit.

Here's something that I'd been looking at. It seems square for what I'm looking for, but I'm sure you all will have better advice for what I should get. I don't care about the standard trackpad or speakers. I'm using a Mamba and Astro A40's. The keyboard SHOULD be backlit, that's something I really like in a keyboard.

Screen display is very important. Around a 21" display is preferred, though I know laptops typically don't run that large. I want the display to be pretty.

    Feel free to ask questions.
For HDD, I'd like at least 500.

just my opinion, you can get something much more powerful, and under your 1500 ceiling, from the msi GT series computers. That's what i'm running now, and coming from an asus, I'm SOLD on them. they have one on newegg currently, right at 1400 after rebate. has the WICKED-ass 675M and a 750gig drive. Plus dynaudio speakers, Killer Networking wifi card(unbelievable range, and very fast) and steelseries backlit keyboard and on-the-fly fan throttle control...which is great for extending the life of your rig.

    you're welcome.

excellent choice btw, that is similar to the one that I am using, though it has the 670 instead of the 675 I am using...but there is a negligible difference.
You will be able to play anything on max settings, 1080p, with no problems.
theyre incredibly powerful, and they are very easy to upgrade. if you decide you want to do any upgrades to it, hit me up i'll walk you through things like setting up a ssd on your mSATA slot, or whatever.

to the idiots who seem to think it's either "gaming or a laptop"...they've never had a real laptop or they simply cant afford one. these rigs nowadays are incredible.

i'm pretty sure ASUS' most similarly priced laptop doesnt have HALF the features of the MSI that he bought. all the little things that most people don't really consider kinda make it worth it.

the most comparable asus is their ASUS G75VW-NS71

Killer Gaming network card? check for msi
    Steelseries Keyboard? check-msi
one-panel access to the ENTIRE motherboard and all internals? yup for msi
    PROPER speakers? again for msi
    headset amp? check
instant fan control without any programs? mhmm
isn't friggin hideous? i'd say msi again

i'd say the asus is a generic gaming laptop, and no doubt a damn good one.
MSI has just figured out how to take it to a new level, and do it better.

fwiw, the most potent asus laptops right now...cant even shake a stick at the highest-end MSI's. guess it's time to play catch-up.
