    Where to start?

Hello all. let me give some background.

I have attempted to learn code a few times. At first, I began to learn html, then css. Although I "know" these languages, I have trouble actually using it or testing my skills because im not good enough to get jobs. I have watched various youtube video and tutorials including Vue.js, SQL, Firebase, etc.

Obviously some of these aren't "languages" and more of frameworks. I found SQL to be very simple and something that seems easy to learn, but I am not sure it fits what I want to get into.

Is there any advice on what is good to learn. Even if it isnt a programming language, and is just some type of framework, I would love to get some advice on where to start.

I know most will say javascript and some will say python, but are there any other languages or frameworks that might interest me that are more niche?

I mostly like front end, but I find HTML/css to be tedious work.

    Update.

I have been thinking about exploring ember.js and firebase / Firestore.

Does anyone have experience with ember?

    Where to start?

Hey man, I'm no PRO at programming, but i'd like to give my 2 cents.

I'm a Security Engineer, and mostly write scripts nowadays for automation and troubleshooting purposes in addition to other work duties. (mainly Bash, Python, PHP)

It's nice that you know what you're interested in (Front End), and to me HTML/CSS is more of a markup language.

SQL is definitely not for you, as it's Back End. Although in my opinion, if you wanted this to be a career I'd say learn it all! Companies appreciate someone who knows front end/backend type programming. Maybe that's just because I enjoy the DevOps/Engineering/technology overall and have had good luck in my interviews when I say so.

TBH, it's hard to determine what's right. If you think the Cloud Firebase / Firestore is interesting, then some understanding in SQL or just databases in general might give you a boost. I'd pair that with a general purpose language like Java or C++ because you can build apps off of Firebase / Firestore with these languages (Way more than these 2). There are so many examples and I understaood general programming concepts (data structures, arrays, pointers, I/O, etc) by learning these two languages when I was in College.

Maybe it's a bit too brief for you, but there's honestly so much to suggest.
