    Official "City of the Living Dead" thread!

    Director: Lucio Fulci
    Writers: Lucio Fulci (story), Dardano Sacchetti (story)
    Stars: Christopher George, Catriona MacColl and Carlo De Mejo

    "A reporter and a psychic race to close the Gates of Hell after the suicide of a clergyman caused them to open, allowing the dead to rise from the grave."

    Whether you saw it as City of the Living Dead, Ein Zombie hing am Glockenseil(Germany Title, among many), The Gates of Hell(US Title), or you saw the cut version, you still saw Italian director Lucio Fulci's masterpiece, "Paura nella città dei morti viventi".

    The movie is probably the goriest zombie movie you will ever see, although the special effects and budgeting made the movie seem off. If you don't believe me, look up some famous scenes from it, including(but not limited to);

    The "Head Drilling" scene,
    the "Brain Ripping" scene,

    and the infamous "Vomiting" scene.

    SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT CONTINUE READING UNLESS FAMILIAR WITH THE "VOMITING" AND "HEAD DRILLING" SCENES!

    I do have to say that when the girl's father(I do not remember names, bare with me) shoves the boy's face into the electric power drill, no matter how fake it looked, still makes my stomach drop.

    The absolute best part that makes this movie so great is, during the vomiting scene, the girl begins to not only vomit blood and foam while bleeding through her eyes, but also her intestines for almost a minute straight. I did research and found out the girl had actually been vomiting sheep entrails, making them not only LOOK real, but actually BE real.

    With how many zombie movies are coming out nowadays, such as "Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane" and new, terrible George A. Romero movies with slow, shitty acting zombies, it's hard to find a zombie movie as original as this one.

    A cool fact that Lucio Fulci had wrote himself that makes his zombies superior, is the fact that they don't just eat you, but also can teleport, have mind powers, etc. Which had never been experimented with before this movie, and still has yet to be done again(that I have seen).

    END OF SPOILERS

    The best place to see this movie is on Youtube in 13 different parts, although I'm sure any website streaming movies is good to watch it on, but because of so many cut versions, including Germany banning 4 different versions(besides "Ein Kadaver hing am Glockenseil", which is missing over nine minutes of footage), you are likely to miss out on some of the best scenes ever if not careful.

    The Gates of Hell is also the first installment of an unofficial trilogy, which also includes movies The Beyond and The House by the Cemetary, also Lucio Fulci's work.

    Anyone wanna discuss?
