So it is probably no secret that I am a massive film buff. I love watching movies, studying and analyzing films, and learning how the movie making process works. I thought I'd start a thread for others like me around Sythe to have a productive discussion on the art of movie watching and movie making.

So I recently found the series Every Frame a Painting by Tony Zhou at Vimeo. It analyzes the actual film making and techniques instead of the movie itself. The Satoshi Kon video and the Wolf Children/Tracking Shot video is amazing. It can be found: https://www.youtube.com/user/everyframeapainting/feed

    Syecdoche, New York - Kaufman - Surrealism/Philosophy
    El Topo/Holy Mountain - Jordorowsky - Surrealism/Philosophy
    EraserHead/Blue Velvet/Muholland Drive - Lynch - Surrealism/Dream Logic/Contrast
    Pi/The Black Swan - Aronofksy - Split personalities/Philosophy
Any of the films by The Brothers Quay or Ralph Bakshi - Because of the amazing animation and content
Brazil in particular, but any Terry Gilliam film as well - Because Terry Gilliam is a bad ass
All the Stanley Kubrick films. He is the best director to set light to film. Dr. Strangelove being my favorite.
