I saw someone posting about willing to sell 'art' in the real items section. I am not taking like some drawings from a nobody but expensive pieces. I know some about the art world and the fact is that there are a lot of fakes, should this be something a sticky is put up about or is it left up to the buyer to decide if the items are fakes or not? I just figured this may be an interesting topic for discussion.

The person selling the pieces should be willing to verify that they actually own them...

I am not talking about having the actually items, I am talking about fakes, reprints, things like that. Things that are being sold as originals, it's much easier to tell a pair of fake beats in a picture than it is to verify that an art piece is real in a picture.

I don't think it's THAT big of an issue, there's going to be fakes of everything. It's the buyers responsibility to make sure it's real, make sure there are certificates of authentications and such. Also, sythe isn't much of a 'real life item' forum, E-Bay would be the safest way to buy something in real life.

Really not a big issue at all. If we're talking about a situation where some guy is claiming to own an 18th century original and is looking for thousands of dollars for it, first of all, this is the wrong community to be looking to sell a piece so exquisite, being that this forum is comprised of 13-25 year olds with an obsession with runescape, second of all, THIS WONT EVER BE THE CASE.

Most art sold on the forums are of local artists to the owner, or portraits where second and third prints have resale value. Noone comes to sythe for authentic art shopping, don't expect an original of immense extravagance. If anyone purchases a piece of art on this site it will be on a whim, and because they like what they see. Reprint is irrelevant and unimportant.
