Have I Grown Out of Gaming?

I remember when I was younger and my parents had bought me games every so often. I was used to getting a new game every 3 months or so. I never used to get frustrated then and I was able to sit and play the same game for hours on end. Now that I'm an adult, I find myself buying games that I play for a couple of hours then get instantly bored of. My gaming sessions now consist of - loading a game up, Battlefield 4 for instance, play an online match and play fairly decent while getting mildly frustrated at things that I perhaps shouldnt. After the match ends, or after I quit out I find myself un-desiring of another match and completely bored. I switch games and repeat the process above and its a continuous cycle.

Im not sure what to make of this. Its a love-hate of sorts with my Xbox One. And for the sake of the thread dont put "buy a PS4 and your problems will disappear". Ive been feeling this way since I owned my PS3 before the release of current-gen as we know it.

My question is, does anyone cycle through games like crazy sometimes repeating playing the same game multiple times in one session? I just cant stick to a game. I play a game in NBA2K15 and tear it up and still get bored after the game. Perhaps I've grown out of console gaming and need the switch to PC? Perhaps I've grown out of gaming completely but I cant put the controller down because of the immense habit/addiction I have. Let me know your thoughts and experiences.

I was having a similar experience, but then I started playing CSGO and I'm really enjoying it. I guess either you could use this as an excuse to give up gaming and devote your time to other areas of your life, or just try and find a game that really grips you?

Have I Grown Out of Gaming?

That's exactly me. After I finish a ranked match of League of Legends or CS:GO, if it's a victory I'll stop playing, if it's a defeat I'll end up playing all day until I balance W/L ratio of the day. I think I do this because "I don't want to ruin the day, I'm already happy that I won a game and this will be a good day"

I was out of it, until I realized it pays for my college.

Tbh, i think its very common to grow out of gaming when we get older as we get more mature and other things will take priority and will be more appealing as our interests and preferences switch

I've been in this position a few times. Most of the time when this happens to me it's mainly due of 'excessive gaming'. So I just have break for a week or two and come back wanting to actually sit down and play games. I don't think I'll ever get 'grow' out of playing games, but I definately do know exactly how you feel.

Try having a break for abit, and then come back when you feel you're ready to play more. :)

Sounds like you need a break from PC for a while. I've experienced the same, I took a break for a few months without playing at all.

I'm the kinda person who stick to one game at a time, and play it very much. Mostly until I get most of the achievements you can possible achive in a short amount of time.

Have I Grown Out of Gaming?

It's natural when we become older to detach from things. I guess gaming isn't any different. I will admit, I've been in your position before, but I could never grow out of gaming. I've had a controller/mouse in my hand since I was about 3. I probably sometimes have times away from gaming, due to real life problems etc. But I would never grow out, I couldn't imagine anyone else who games to grow out of it.

    That's just my opinion though.

Have I Grown Out of Gaming?

Yeah the year i first got my ps3 (was a while ago) i enjoyed coming home from school to play cod black ops until suddenly one day i just got really bored and watched tv, lol havent played it since its been maybe 3-5 years. I always got a weird depressing feeling playing the game as it felt like an endless cycle of the same stuff lol.

Have I Grown Out of Gaming?

Gaming has nothing to do with maturing. I've known people age 60+ who were avid gamers.

OP: I can relate to this a bit. I started gaming as a young child on the NES and SNES, and got the new consoles when they came out, and played many hours on end. I'm about to be 24 now, and I've pretty much given up console gaming. Let's be honest, it's just not worth the money anymore. I came across an AMAZING deal a while back, where I traded my Xbox 360, 1 controller, and 4 games for an Xbox One, 2 controllers, and 5 games. I only kept that Xbox One for a little over a month.

The way I look at console gaming is this, and this is strictly MY preference; the only games worth buying every year would be Madden, COD (maybe), Battlefield (maybe), NBA2K(maybe), and the occassional release of something else. I say maybe to the above titles because sometimes it can be an amazing game, sometimes it'll be a flop. 2K puts out pretty much the same game every year. But, with the sports games, I'll play 1 or 2 games everyday, and just not feel like playing. On a good FPS, a few hours every day or so. It's just not worth spending the money to me.

I do some PC gaming still. It's what I recommend. It's a hard transition from avid console gamers, but I get more enjoyment out of it. I think I've rambled long enough, I probably didn't even make any valid points..

I have the same thing except honestly I kinda like it, I'm not as hooked and I can play the games in more moderation.
