Support, this is brilliant, no more huge signatures filled with fake vouches.

You just like calling people jackasses and not smart :p..

I don't agree though, it's not hard to ask a global+ to change someone's signature. Sectionals have limited power for a reason. They shouldn't be allowed to globally moderate the forums.

The same reason why sectionals can't permanent ban users.

I think the ability to change a signature is a bit different then permanently banning someone - Sectionals changing signatures is harmless and will just save time and the hassle, so I think it's a fine idea.

Oops, Viper beat me too it, didn't refresh the page =(

Not really that different, people who are higher than sectionals (Ie. Globals and Admins) have earned their position by showing they are responsible. I'm not saying we don't have irresponsible sectionals, I'm just saying that there's no reason for them to be given more power in their position.

I understand what you mean Finn, and yes it can be chaotic, but it prevents signature abuse, which can easily result in a user being frustrated. Limiting the power to Globals and Admins means you can point fingers with blame.

I wouldn't say definitely no to the idea of certain sectionals having the power, but all of them getting the ability to change signatures would actually be more chaotic than it seems.

EDIT: Plus it's not your job to change signatures ;). You moderate posts and threads in your section, or do the reports that are sent through. You don't moderate the users. (if I'm correct in that, I'm pretty sure I am :p)

I honestly don't see the harm that could come out of it, though I can see the good..

I don't see why this would be such an issue.

The thing is, Finn gives infractions, but still cannot change the signature (or whoever is doing spam report), and that retards will still have it, regardless the infraction. And it is really annoying having to scroll down for 10 seconds just to see the next post, just because someone finds it necessary to put 5 vouches of free names in their sig. If not this, at least add a rule saying no vouches in your signature.

I disagree, sectionals are there to moderate their section, not the users. If they are breaking a rule like that, it's really not hard to contact a Global.

Adding these permissions would only end with trouble, and certain peoples head being inflated, more so than usual.

Firstly, I know a few mods that don't like me, passionately.

Secondly, giving a sectional the permissions would make them feel even more superior knowing they can change other peoples signatures. All it would take is one joke to go wrong. It's not like if you see someone with a signature a bit to big it's a major priority to get it changed, i would imagine.

I understand where you're coming from in saying it would help the issue, but all I'm trying to say is there's not that big of an issue to be solved, in my opinion.

    And
If someone is abusing their signature, surely it can be combated in the same way?

There are few mod complaints and several, several oversized signatures. This site goes slow enough as is, and if making peoples signatures smaller will make the site go a bit faster, even if its a very little bit, it's worth it. I don't understand why they shouldn't be allowed to do it - no sectional would have power get to their heads and I fail to see what trouble this could actually cause. They won't start feeling "even more superior", and as I mentioned before, all it will do is make a few peoples jobs easier, save some time, and avoid some hassle. This is a small, simple, harmless change that will solve a small issue.

Edit: I agree with Finn =D

This makes plenty of sense. If its abused, it will not be too much abuse, I mean its just a sig.

Sectionals are technically supposed to be able to edit signatures... It's part of the ModCP.

I'll check why it's not letting you and get back to you.
