Where Should I Progress My Education?

Right, so I have narrowed my options down to two places that I could go to, so that I can get on the next level of education.

The issue is not whether I can get into a school. My marks speak for themselves, and the fact that I've done voluntary work and so forth meant that both schools were quite eager to let me stay/join.
The first school is the one I've been at for the past 5 years. I have friends here, who will pretty much all be staying on. It's a decent school, but there's nothing really awesome about it. Plus, it's a Catholic school, and frankly, I hate this whole religion thing, but I thought - oh, well, small price to pay.
I then went to an Open Evening for another school. This school appeared so much better, and from the people I knew there, it is really good. I have a friend who teaches there, and he showed me some of the results from the Maths department (which, incidentally, is what I want to study) and they were quite a lot better than in our school, and there are so many more options that one can pick.

For those who want to know, my goal is to be an accountant. I'm looking to take Maths, Further Maths, French and I'm still undecided on the last option - possibly English - and so, I really need some help choosing a school.

I'm emotionally quite attached to this school that I'm at, for some reason, and I think I'd miss a lot of the friends I've made here, but likewise, I'm also a bit keen to see what other schools are like, but I'm still not sure if I'm ready for such a leap of faith.

What do you guys think I should do - go to a school with teachers who (I'm told) are quite a bit better, or stay in this Catholic school with the majority of people I'm friends with.

PS. Don't get me wrong, I do know people in the other school as well, but nowhere near as many as in my current school.

EDIT: And applications have to be in by February 1st, which is why I'm a bit nervous. It doesn't leave all that much time, now.

Go for what you know is right, if you dont like catholic go elsewhere, try to stay in a good learning enviornment. Its actually sometimes a bad think to know people where you attend school because of the distractions. You need to look at things like teacher to student ration and prior learning achievements and teacher backgrounds all of that friends and people you know there will only hinder your education.

Hey buddy, I am actually studying to be an accountant too :) I love the carreer and you will learn a lot of interesting new things, I guarantee you that.

Regarding your problem, I would suggest that your education is more important than hanging around with friends, if they are friends, then you will end up seeing them again at some other time. I know you mention the price of the catholic but I would go to the one that would bring me more benefits in the future and as you mention the other one has better teachers, so I would probably go to the other one.

On the other side you don't know what potential friends you are missing out on if you decide to stay in the same school.

Once you switch schools/college/university you will really know who your real friends are. You can still have contacts with your old friends and make new ones.

I personally also made the decision to go to a different school than my friends and I haven't regret it since. If you are in classes with old friends you will team up with them for projects while I personally think it's good to team up with people you don't know.

I still see my "real" friends like twice a month and on holidays, online, etc. My university offers high quality classes in my opinion. Four of them study IT/Computer Science like me, we are split on three university's now - 2 on A, 2 on B and I'm on C.

While they are having classes about PHP, website design and databases I have classes about java, agile working, software laws and creating android apps. It's something that interests me more and I think I benefit more from those subjets. In the end, after 4 years, we will have learned similar things.

I think creating android apps is an excellent way to learn using databases, java, object oriented programming, etc. But this post is more leaning my own experience now.. so I suggest you try to place the things from my post in your own perspective.

I would choose for the better quality university.

Depends where you live. If it's the US you're pretty much fucked.

Never choose a school/subject/similar because of friends. Go where you think you'll get the best result otherwise you could potentially regret choosing otherwise. If I were you, I'd go to the other one.

I have also just been told by one of my closer friends that he'd 100% go with me, as he, too, loved the other school.

Your opinions really helped me guys, and I've put in an application to the other school :)
