Why Do We Fight Over OS's??

i've posted a thread about operating systems asking people which ones they used. I ended up getting flamed to death just because I use Windows XP/ and Mac OS X.

and I wasn't sure if this would go in the Something for All so I just posted it here.

But the simple question is why do we fight over operating systems people use?

ok I use mac so what? you use linux... thats great. i don't care which OS i use as long as I can get the most productivity from it and i've been using a mac for a while and it does everything I need to do. it aint which OS u use but what u do with it.

I mean if we fight over something as silly as what computers we use why dont we fight over what cars we drive? i mean we could flame every single person who drives a Honda but whats the points in that?

Lol, I prefer Windows to the Mac OS (And Linux over both), but I don't hold grudges over what OS a person uses. I just like debating.

 

YOU!!! you were on my last thread about OS's and all I heard from you was Mac sucks mac sucks mac sucks. and I'm glad to hear you don't hold grudges but what's your argument against why people fight over OS's? hmm is it productive??

 

Same here lol... I just hate it when people are ignorant about their choice.

And people DO argue about the cars they drive, tbh.

 

Yes! I know people argue about what cars they drive. and i'd love to argue about that too but I'm saying that i'd rather fight over something with a value over 100 bucks (ie: Operating system, although you could get it for free

 

I like to use Mac OS because I never have any problems but what really get me is when people say stuff like macs suck and stuff but they never tried them before. And I know that a lot of people never tried linux either but yet they say windows is better. Please do not say something is better then another unless you have tried both. It would be like if I never tried the ps3 but said that xbox is better.

 

SKATEBOARD. I've seen some of your posts around here when it came to this stuff and your a mac user yay! I agree with you, why say somethings better than something you've never tried?? thats USUALLY the case with Mac :/



and NO sorry i dont consider using a mac in an apple store for 10 min. actually "trying" the OS out.

 

Give me some examples of what I said that was just "MAC SUCKS" or something along those lines without some reasonable argument.

i like my windows xp even tho i have nvr used anything else but mac, i would like to argue about the cars we drive.

 

umm vista sucks ass.. end of story.. xp is good.. macs are ok.. just i think in some cases lack of and hard to use.. Linux i havnt tried so idk.. windows xp for me

 

Is ya don't mind how is mac hard to use? I use both and yes vista does kinda suck haha but i thought mac was extremely easy to use everything you need right outta the box

 

hmm i have used mac its quite easy to use but im still more familiar with xp i like it but mac is still pretty good.

I just hate fanboys that flame Windows. And I can't think of very many reasons for why someone would want to use a Mac.
It's just a modified BSD on overpriced hardware.
PC + Windows/Linux is good.

 

Alright i don't flame windows. I use it. and sorry but i don't know what BSD means? care to share? and overpriced hardware well.. if u add the new iMac+windows on that then It's about the same price as a normal desktop except much sexier + 2 OS's .

oh and why would someone want to use Mac? to each his own. I love the interface and all the little programs that come with it and now that they can run windows too saved me buying another comp and is very convenient

Er, I should have made my meaning clearer. I meant "use" in the sense of actually operating as a power user or root, not a limited school account or in a best buy.

But you can't deny it's silly that Apple runs their site on Linux and Windows rather than Mac OS X, or that the only decent operating system they made was one based on a third-party kernel.
