New Rule: No false advertisement/Misleading titles

    Hello,

I've been very disappointed lately by some titles which state a price and when you come to the thread, the price is a whole different thing. If they state a price in their title, and then change in the thread, force them to report thread for a title change so it matches.

I've reported threads like this, but it should be a rule. It ain't fun when you see "Buying gold .50/m" and when you enter thread it's .45/m

Also, false advertisement should be infracted. Such as selling a copy as original, or saying a PC will run X bots when the real max number is Y.

Thank you for reading, share thoughts. ^_^

I totally support, some threads even go to say "Selling mills STARTING from 50./M" which goes to say starts from 50./M but some payments styles r charged more per mill, but when u go in theres no payment which is at 50./m...i completely support .

No thanks, it may be a moderators fault if they have requested a change via PM and that mod hasnt done it yet, its all very subjective, and tbh.. a little trivial.

Or just allow us to change titles, I don't see a problem with that.

Yeah I also thought about it... "What if user has already done it?" But what if they haven't, I've seen false titles for more than week -> User's fault.

And if it is the case, make a sticky stating titles must be changed according to thread's prices.

this is a marketing strategy that people use. The traders just want you to view their thread, and use all sorts of colorful text and attractive ponies in the hopes that you will change your mind and buy from them.

the threads start with these misleading titles in the first place. the prices are rarely actually changed in the threads.

Thats the problem, im not wasting my time to go into a thread when i know im not gna spend more than 50./m False advertisement. Thats the point here. If nike said were selling original jordan ones starting at $500...but when u walk in there in stock for $1000, umm wtf...

Nah, in my opinion, this strategy is only used by people who are desperate to get their products sold.

Nike doesn't need to do that :)

    ..do they?

Complete support especially with the whole straight up lying. How is straight up lying not forbidden? I mean honestly.. Saying you can run 20 bots and can only realistically run 10, that's allowed? I mean, how is it up to the buyer to know this? If a very trusted member is saying it, we shouldn't trust what their saying is true, but we should trust that their legitimate? It's ridiculous.

Support, having a misleading title is the same as lying about something that you have.

I don't know if i support this or not.

It's very discouraging to enter a thread saying selling GP .45 / M, when that's only for a select type of people who can use a certain payment method, such as mail. 90% Of sythe uses Paypal (Pulled that out of nowhere, but most people on the site have paypal) and when you try to buy from them with paypal, it may be .55 $ / M or even more, but as people said it is a strategy people use to sell products, which i believe is fine.

What i do like is the ability to change our own thread titles. I think there's no harm to be done in that and would be less of a hassle then to PM a mod and have their time wasted, when we could do it ourselves in a matter of seconds.

So, I do not support the initial suggestion, but i support the thread title changing.

I am not against this, if the user states starting at .45/m in the title and there's a payment method at .45/m there no issue at all ^_^

But when someone say in titles starting from .45/m and you go inside thread and lowest price possible is .50/m it's just lying and deceiving. :noworry:

AND like I said before, people deliberately make misleading titles.
Giving them the ability to change their thread title will change virtually nothing.

Okay, although I do agree with the point that you are making, this is a silly example.

There is no way to accurately gauge how many bots a PC can run.

Theoretically, it would be nice if everyone advertised their real prices, but as Karl said it is just too subjective to maintain. However, I think most people share your frustration.

I usually end up browsing several times the same thread because of its title.
i'm like "oh, what's this thread? sounds interesting!" and once i click it's i'm like "oh... that's this one... saw it yesterday".

There currently is a thread called "OMFG!" in RS2G, keep forgetting what it is, that's really annoying.

I don't fully support your idea TBH, but i think there should be a "edit title" button when you edit the first post of your thread, and it would be sent to a moderator or whoever has the power to do it.

Support. Marketing strategy or not it wastes people's time. An infraction should be given for people who would break the rule.

You could take a picture of those bots running o_O in that computer.

Or even better, make a video! ^_^

But just claiming from nowhere that it can run X number of bots it's lying.
