Getting the face of an object.

Does anyone know how to get the face of an object(door)? I don't know much about java but I do know a few other languages. I know you can either set the face from 0 to -3 which is west, south, east, and north. Would anyone know how to get that? If so I can write up a simple script that gets every single unit door in your server to open and close right(and the right direction)

This is how the face gets put in "outStream.writeByteA(Face)" So my best guess would be "inStream.readByteA()" would retrieve the face number? Could anyone confirm or help with this?
