Get Rid of Post Count =/

I'm sick of people posting random stuff just to get their post count up. I'm also sick of getting infracted for saying a "short sentance" just because most do this to get their post count up. I got infracted for saying "you guys are funny", "that is a good movie", and "Free Bump" (after the guy asked me to bump his thread). Post count is completely USELESS (other than perhaps getting newfags to get "hooked" on the forum, and become active). My  suggestion:idea: is to either remove post count ALTOGETHER, or to make it OPTIONAL to show your post count. I also am sick of people telling me I must spam alot because my post count is so high for a new person:mad: . Overall post-count is completely retarded, and seriously - someone give me a GOOD reason why we SHOULDN'T remove it.;) This would also make things alot easier for giddy. Sure, this might decrease the flow this website, but it would be the useless members who don't help contribute to this community anyways.

    Post count doesn't mean trust.

Looking at you Snowbound, I see 12 posts a day. You are pretty much describing yourself in this thread you made.

If you look at my posts. Most (other than those 3 reported as spam) are full to the brim with information. It has nothing to do with my "posts per day", as I spend most of my day on this website. You also just stereotyped me, the way I just have said people do. Just because I use the forum alot, doesn't make me a spammer. And you have no idea how many times I have seen TGUMP (and others), spam messages that have nothing to do with a thread. Sometimes they think they are being funny (tgump, finn, others), sometimes they even are funny (cp, nathan, other funny mods), but if they weren't moderators they would be infracted for spam (I'm not talking about in the spam forum). I just found a message tgump where you posted a bunch of semicolons, not even in the spam thread.

    EDIT:
Tgump, when they are talking about post limits/requirements - it means things like...you have to have this many posts to view a specific thread, ect. They said nothing about removing the post count itself. THAT is what you call thinking outside of the box.

    EDIT2:
Also, my name is SNOWBOARD-Ninja not Snowbound.

Just because he has 12 posts a day doesn't mean he posts bullshit.

I personally think post count should be gotten rid of because it leads to people trusting scammers, and people thinking they're better than others.

It doesn't prove anything, because a person could join this month and get 500 posts in less than a week, while another stays 2 years and only makes 100.

So, just because most forums have post count, means we should too? It really just gives people a reason to post pointless messages, such as yours. Don't follow the bandwagon. Only dead fish go with the flow.

EDIT: Thanks grave, that was one of the reasons I was thinking of too. Theres this guy called C_R_U_N_K who posted useless messages, got 500+ post count in a week, and scammed a whole ton of peoples accounts. He's still trying to convince me to buy the accounts off him, but I refuse.

i like the idea, i use the site ALOT. and most people kinda "Leave their sythe accounts" for months and then just post frequently= low pc per day. im on like 17 per day lol probably reach 20 soon enough. and then stop using sythe for a while so it can go down.

Next time you should probobly put two messages into one (speaking on the note of postcount) and just type EDIT and the end. It's really useful I use it alot.

But yes, there is a big difference of a message where someone thinks about it, maybe edits it a bit, after thinking about what they were saying - posting it. Rather than just running their mouth (keyboard) and typing just whatever happens to come to their mind at the time.

Look guys, there's no need to start arguing over this..

Post count identifies a user's activity on the forum. However, it is abused. There is nothing that we can do to stop people abusing it really, people post things anywhere they can to get a higher post count.

Of course, if you are afraid of being scammed by a 'low post count user', then check for vouches, as natinsatan has said above.

There's nothing further that I can say .

high post count means that if they were posting bullshit, they would have proably been banned by now. so the people with really high posts counts havent broke bad,,,yet.

but think for a second about posts per day,,do you really call 1 post per day active? 5 isnt really active either, if you actualy use a forum you will proably post more then 10 times a day

Would you trust a spammer with 2k posts, and no vouches? Or someone with 40 posts and 10 vouches that are all legit and real? Post count doesn't mean anything really. I don't even let mine affect me. I don't give a fuck about it but I think half the community here likes having post count. There has always been arguments over post counts and bullshit like that. So many people joined here and just spammed in the rs2 p server section and scammed.

yeah, but his obviously said his been infracted and warned etc so you never know.

although I do agree with you, but people that stay 2 years and only make 100 posts ( just an example) mean they are just inactive.

Not really, it just means they are selective where they post. 99% of my posts are in the programming sections which don't see a lot of action. But I still visit the site close to regularly.

Well, Although post count can sometimes aid scammers, (new members thinking they are trusted). It shouldn't be removed as this is how sythe has always been. The only reason I can think of to remove it is for new members getting scammed by some spammers who get 500+ posts in a week; but i guess it's common sense not to trust someone just because they have a lot of posts.

    EDIT:
Jazz is right, I have been on the forum over 2 years, I barely have any posts. I visit the site regularly but just look, sometimes posting.
