I want to see your opinions on various forum software. Please leave your feedback here on what features you like, and what you dislike, about vBulletin, MyBB, IPB, Xenforo, etc.

I want to hear your favorite features, bad features, and features you wish they had built-in.

I like the feedback feature on most black market sites. I wont promote any, but it's obvious which one.

I hate mybb because it's cluttered and the quality wasn't so high when I last used it. ( Not long ago)

My IPB is perfect for forums because there's so many options you can use and install, but the layout is ugly and I prefer vb over it because it attracts more users. The options aren't really needed for most sites which is why it's still under vb in quality.

Xenfero is very underrated and ive only been on one site that used it. I don't like the layout, reminds me of mybb. I guess the time of the last recent post is cool, but still isn't relevant as the post is/has been made. Depending on the acvitity

I don't have a particular feature, but I like forums that are flexible, easy to move around and good customization. User profile wise

I'm not the best when it comes to web programming, but this is what I noticed when on other forums

This doesn't really seem like a realistic feature, considering a large majority of forums aren't marketplaces and would have no use for it.

Thanks for the other input though, still looking for more!

I really enjoy the interactive "Navigation" tab in IPB. Noticed RuneHQ uses this forum software; the 'View New Content' option is also sweet.

vBulletin works fine for me. Has a lot of things you'd need for a forum.

IPB is great, but, on some IPB forums like the old SoulSplit forums and RevX for you guys who play rsps(not sure if it's all IPB but), when you press backspace to delete the last letter, it'll just take you to the beginning of the line. Not sure if there's a fix or anything for it, but it's annoying af.

Xenforo was alright, but I've only been on one forum that uses it.

    Not sure about anything else.

SMF is great. The mod installer works wonders and it's really easy to pick up and manage, plus it's free.

Love the feature on vB that lets the user know if someone replied to you/quoted you in a thread. Such a helpful aspect to having a a better/stronger community when it's easier to communicate with everyone.

Although, I think the Sythe forums would need to update vB which is't going to happen. This was discussed in a thread a few years ago, don't remember why they don't want to update it.

VB is by far the most flexible system you can find. First of all all of the options have some form of modding, and you should make sure you know what mods you want to add to the software. Beyond that it's simply a case of VB being more popular and having a larger development community, making it fit your needs better. Personally I get along with it better as well.

I'm not so much asking what your favorite choice of forum software is, but what your favorite/least favorite features are.

I like ZetaBoards, I don't think it's the best software by any means but I'm definitely extremely comfortable with it.

I've spent most of my time on vBulletin forums. It just seems like the most effective and enjoyable experience, at least to me. If you have a good coder (I.E. Sythe has Matthew and Govind) you can expand and adjust the forum too.

For the longest time I've wanted to make my own forum software. I'm now in the idea collection phase and want to see what the consumer wants/needs are in terms of a forum. Features that you want, I'll add if they're reasonable. Features that you hate, I'll remove if they're truly bad.

Just a bit of market research. :) Your posts all help a lot.
