    Road Trip!

Withen the next few weeks I'm taking a trip from Florida to Arizona. Why im here and why I'm leaving is irrelevent. The only thing that matters is that I make it back there okay.

What I plan on doing in this thread is starting a list of things to not forget and things to prepare for since I'll be driving by myself.
Important things to include to me entertainment, food/water and making sure my car will be okay. I'll be sleeping in my car to save money on hotels. Sounds REAL shitty but times are tough.

Feel free to discuss or if you think I'm missing something shout it out! It's not only welcome but appreciated.

    Cash Goal: $209/600.

    Car maintenace:
Detail ( no one wants a road trip in a dirty car) []
    Oil Change []
    Fresh headlights []
    My tires are fine
    my windsheild wipers are fine

Entertainment:(Mind you Ill be driving so books etc. are useless)
    Music
    Books on ipod
    ... That's all I've got

Things not to forget when leaving:
    Clothes
    Laptop
    ALL gauges
I guess thats all I really have here.

    Wish Me Luck :)

    Good luck I think? lol.

Who cares if your car is detailed, it will get plenty dirty on the way there and back.

When it comes down to it having your car detailed is useless. Get a vacuum and clean it out a bit if you're worried about, no need to waste money. Likewise with the headlights. Buy an extra set and keep them in the car but don't bother changing them unless they burn out. Oil change would make sense, likewise with checking all your fluids like coolant, washer fluid, oil, tranny oil, steering fluid, clutch fluid, etc)

You never know when you'll need a length of good, strong, rope. It wouldn't be a bad idea to toss a can of fix-a-flat and a bicycle pump in your trunk along with your jumper cables. How are you sleeping? Traveling the whole way in one go? Sleeping at rest areas? sleeping at hotels? Camping? What are you doing about food?

Don't forget a flashlight. A pen and paper is always handy should you need to write something down or you're feeling slightly artistic. Paper towels, spilling shit in the car sucks.

    bunch more

and along with drento, don't forget to check your brakes, brake fluid, and battery.

ipod->car adapter (stereo hookup and power source) books on tape (Harry potter is good, just light books). Flashlight. Have your car vacuumed out.

I'll take in consideration the rope. I've watched boondock saints too many times to think thats unreasonable :p. I have jumper cables in there now but the fix a flats a good idea too. I checked my spare and its still as good as it can be for a spare. I'll be sleeping in my car at walmart parking lots. I don't trust rest stops enough. Paper towels and a flashlight are both going on the list Thanks!

I've got the adapter. I'll start looking for books on tape tonight. Harry Potters a great choice becaue the narators accent lol thanks!

Yeah not getting it detailed anymore but cleaned out for sure. I guess itll just give me something to do until I leave.

I'd say take your expected cost, and add like 200$ to it. You'll never know what will happen, and it's always good to plan ahead. It's much more worth it to take precautions, but not go overboard.

Any reason why you want to go to Arizona?

Funny you should say that. That's what I did. My goal is to leave Florida with an oil change, brand knew headlights, all of my stuff and $600. I only expect to need 400. I'm from Arizona. I moved for a girl. Troll/Don't Troll either way I feel dumb.

Oh damn. Great minds think alike! Haha!

And don't worry about going to Arizona for a girl, it's something that people do all the time. I have a girl on the west coast that I'm expecting to move in with in January.

haha, I'll be doing the same from California to Connecticut next year.
    $600? I thought that $1000 wouldn't be enough

Be sure to tell us how to ends up :)
I'm especially interested, so that I do not make the same mistakes that you may make.

Good luck but i don't think $600 will get you there. it costs $120 for me to go 240 miles from my house to Atlanta Georgia. there and back. 240 miles each way. how many miles are you going?

240 miles. Ha. It's around 2000 miles for him. He stated his destination earlier in the thread. He expected to need 400$, and tacked on 200 for the sake of being safe.

    Road Trip!

I took a road trip a few years ago and I started off in CA. I travelled about the states for a while, than ended up in Canada. LOL.

It was a long.. long journey. I brought a couple hundred dollars, and so did both of my friends. We had a fucking great trip.

Entertainment wise.. We had my old 93' Jeep with no radio so we smoked blunts.. and joints. And we had a vaporizer sitting in the middle console ;)
