On Nov. 5, the London crew of Warner Bros.' untitled third Fantastic Beasts film were notified by the studio of a move that came as a surprise: Johnny Depp had been pulled from the shooting schedule. He will still be paid for the contract in full despite only shooting one scene thus far.

Once Judge Andrew Nicol ruled that he accepted Heard's testimony, which was detailed and painted a picture of Depp as an abuser, Emmerich's decision was a fait accompli, with the studio opting to recast the role less than midway through the franchise.

In a Nov. 6 Instagram post, Depp wrote, "I'd like to thank everybody who has gifted me with their support and loyalty. I have been humbled and moved by your many messages of love and concern, particularly over the last few days." But one source says that Fantastic Beasts writer J.K. Rowling - Depp's highest-profile backer - did not push back on Warners' move to cut the actor from the franchise.

shitty part about this, knowing he’ll still be paid and he still has legal battles to stick it to Amber Heard, is that the UK’s judge ruling makes it easier for tabloids to label him a wife beater, which will make winning his cases harder in the future. He doesn’t even need to Harry Potter money after Pirates of the Caribbean, but this libel case and his retaliation against Heard is far more important
