    Future Planning Anyone?

So I haven't seen threads like this. I'm 18 years old, about to finish high school, have a great life that I quite frankly don't wanna leave.... My family is moving so either I go with them, leave an amazing girlfriend of over 3 years, and pick up life in a new place. Or I move out and do things on my own (this is my choice).

I need to be a part-time student and find a job that would allow that. The job also needs to pay enough to have my living arrangements covered and not just barely make it... (I'm not dumb, I think fairly realistic....)

These jobs are quite RARE to find actually... Either I would become a firefighter (which is a VERY rare job to find and often next to impossible to enter) or get into Real Estate or Car Sales (the hours are very flexible as you work for yourself practically. Running on commission, you can make endless amounts. But there are also risks involved with trends and the markets.)

Other than these two options, I'm stumped... I do not wish to relocate, or become a full time student as I will have no spending money and practically have to begin a new life.

Anyone else having this realization smack you as it comes near the end of High School?

You're going to leave your girlfriend just because you're moving and you have been with her for 3 years lol. You can't love her much if its either move or stay with here. Being real, I doubt you could support yourself on a part time job, rent, bills, food, internet etc etc all adds up and you will have next to nothing extra.

Haha she and I have both talked about the whole thing and the idea of doing college life 30 States apart is kinda impossible.... Because it would then be only summers maybe together and communication would be impossible for a 3hr time difference. Cannot be the person who goes to class, comes back and gets on the phone or computer, then repeats... For that you could just as well not have a social life period. But I wasn't saying a part time job. It would be a full time thing, but I'd go to school on my time off and stuff.

No offense, but if you haven't graduated, that seems just slightly irresponsible of your parents to relocate 30 states away and deprive you of your senior year which has to be right around the corner?

(I just read your post again, maybe I'm misunderstanding and you're moving after you finish high-school? If so, I retract that entire response)

Anyway though, if I were in your situation, I'd stay. Then again, I don't have parents that would help me out too much on financial aspects. I don't know much about you or whether your parents would help on stuff like that, but it's something that is definitely nice to know. By staying though, I'd just feel like I have more of a chance to survive in a place I know.

What kind of stuff do you like to do? Can you work on cars or are you just good in the selling/business area?

Yea they are moving June after I graduate. I'm planning on staying in the area I know best. But I am great at fixing cars and what not. I'm very mechanically inclined, I have many skills and some college credit built up from classes. I'm not limited to sales or anything, but that was just an idea ya know.
